7k v2 in rear deck
My brother and I spent the last couple of days making a pair of Elemental Designs 7k v2 subs fit into the rear speaker holes. They weren't a perfect fit and required a little bit of grinding to clear the baskets. The two seperate spaces were filled and sealed with Edead. I am running the subs off of a Rockford Fosgate P4002 (200w x 2 @ 2Ohms) and am also running a set of MB Quart P216's with another P4002 - there is an amp in each cubby hole behind the seats. Of course, just like the fronts, the speaker holes don't line up directly with the speakers. I am going to make some sort of covers to fill the holes but for the time being, they will be open. Oh yeah, and I took the pictures before I cleaned everything up.

It sounds pretty good. I wasn't looking for a ton of sub output, just something to fill in where my components drop off. So far they seem to be filling in like I want - still need to work out a few tuning kinks and make sure everything is sealed up tight - but I think they should do just fine. I am really happy with these subs so far. Not sure what they are comparable to as I haven't tried anything else in the z though they do sound about the same as a 10 that I had in a prior car.
Spike - I have looked at the Zenclosure boxes and some other options and I really need all of the space that I have in the hatch because this is my daily driver and I tend to have a lot of junk that I need to carry around - plus I thought it would be a little different.

looks like a well installed set of subs and a clean project
but IMO, the biggest problem with that location and the 7kv is that becuase you are firing a small sub woofer into essentially nothing, i.e. no loading plane infront of it, you will get dramatically decreased output from them...
this is why i normally dont recommend doing any small subs in the stock rear speaker location
if you want for a reference, build a small little box, put the two 7kvs in it, put it in the hatch and play it with everyhitng else the same, you will see how much output you are missing from them by havin ghtem in the stock locations
speaking of 7kvs in a Z, i just have to bring out:

Bing, I love that install. I knew going in that this wasn't going to be the best location to get the most out of these speakers but I wanted something completely out of the way (with out going with a complete custom install). I drove home from Florida today (~7 hours) and I was happy with the sound. I can definitely tell that there is a lot more to offer from these subs and down the roadd I imagine that I'll be looking to redo the install (as long as my brother's wife lets me back in their house) once I have another car to carry all of my junk.
