Default Quick question...getting new speakers

So I just found out the rear passenger side speaker on my non-bose system is completely dead...no fuzz, sound, or anything whatsoever coming out of it, any ideas?? Every other speaker works fine...

Regardless I was thinking of just spending a couple hundred and upgrading to something better. I am not a big audio guy so I will be happy with anything that sounds better than stock. Also at this point I am not ready to swap out the headunit so I will be using the non-bose oem HU. Is this ok to use and will it work with a basic set of new 6.5" speakers for the doors and rear panel. I know I should do something with the HU as well but for now this is how it has to be. Any suggestions and will everything work ok?

1) Disconnect the other rear speaker. You don’t need rears in the Z (especially the cheap OEMs that come with the Z).

2) Replace the cheap OEM Clarion component speakers in the front. Just about anything you buy will sound much better.

3) If your budget permits, add an external amp to drive the fronts.

so would you say the other one is just fried? How can I go about disconnecting that other rear speaker? Thanks!

Also I can still just use the stock headunit?

You can simply disconnect the wires to the rears.

Yes, you can use your stock H/U.

Replacing the junk front OEM Clarion components will provide much better sound. The better the replacement speaker, the better the sound. If you go with good front components, adding an external amp improves the sound.

Thanks! Last question, where exactly are the rears connected to disconnect them? I would prefer to not have to rip apart the rear paneling.

I doubt this is the answer you want to hear, but my method when doing installations is always to open/disassemble everything. That is the way to do it correctly.
