D3 Install on 07 5AT-Dash Removal
Hello All,
Need a little help with the removal of the factory unit on an 07 5AT. I saw the write up on the install, but that was with a 6MT. The console is a little different and I did not want to break anything by just pulling at different parts. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Sprout

hang in there buddy, unfortunately on this forum, direct question + low post count = no response... I know it sucks but some people on here are very helpful and some are information stingy. I have the same Z; 07 5AT and I'm planning on doing my own install I'll let you specific details and what to look out for when I do my system overhaul. Until then good luck, hopefully someone on here can help you out.
Hey All,
After getting tired of waiting and endless searches on the internet I found the answer. I spent some time looking through the gap between the shifter and the console after removing the trim ring, with a flashlight, and decided to pull the back lower portion of the console up. I figured one of two things was going to happen at that point. Either A: it does not move easily and a clip breaks or B: it comes off with no problem. I am happy to say that B; was the winner! It came off very smooth. Just make sure you do not pull too hard since the hazard lights switch is attached to the console and has a limited amount of slack. The harness release for the hazard lights is on right side of the console, once lifted, which may catch some off guard since the switch is located on the left. Hope this helps someone else down the road!
