Default Finally last part of the system...help me pick a amp for my sub.

Ok I went with and Audison amp and boston pros for my fronts but now I am getting a 10" Image Dynamics IDQ Version 3 sub that says it will take 5-500RMS watts.

I do not want to win spls but I want it to be clean and deep. I want to buy a mono amp to push it.

Should I get the dual voice coil 2 ohm or 4 ohm so I can play the amp at 2 ohms???

also there is a local craigslist ad where the guy is selling a 1 year old JL 205/1 amp for 75 bucks in good condition....would that work?

Get a dual 2Ohm sub and this amp:
Crossfire XP600D
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=5815

Very high quality componentry and under rated. You will not be disappointed.

Also dude, you have helped me so much on my system when I see your *** at a big Z meet or something I am buying you a beer!!!

The Crossfire amps are bulletproof! I had their VR705d 5 channel and ran the snot out of it. Never got hot, never went into protection. I would get the dual 2Ohm sub, wire it in parallel to 1Ohm so you are going to get at least 600rms rated watts (probably closer to 630 real world rms watts), but you will most likely have the gains turned down a bit. It's better to have overhead than to push an amp to its limits. IMHO, for what you are getting in this amp it is very reasonably priced.

The real beauty of this amp is if you ever want to add a second sub, you can get another one of these amps and strap them together.

Maybe we can get a big east coast meet going. Look forward to seeing pics of your system completed!!!!!

Oh it will be nice, I have the Zenclosure under strut single 10" box wit no amp rack. So it just goes straight up and down and leaves more storage room.

The box is wrapped in black suede.
also when the Nazar door pods come Those along with the lower armrest/window switches/and door pocket will all be black suede to make anice uniform flow

and all my amps will be in the old bose location so nice and clean look!

I know they have that Z meet in ATL but I am sure there should be a big Maryland meet, that would be a good middle ground for everyone.

Well, if there is something in MD, let me know, maybe I'll make the 3 hour drive (or whatever it would take me to get there). I've never been to a meet, but it sounds like fun.

not to be a cheap bastard but check this out for 120 bucks? worth it? BTW I am not broke I have $$$ just dont feel like a 400-500 dollar sub amp would be heard quality wise. anyways if you still reccoment the Crossfire I will get it.

thats why I am focusing quailty on the components and component amps, and the overall sub quality.

This Rockford wouldn't be bad. It will put out the RMS recommended by the sub and is a bit better priced than the crossfire.

i think it does 200 watts @ 4 ohm , 400 watts @ 2 ohm , 500 watts @ 1 ohm

but add about 15- 20 % to the rated power for actual

Audison amp $320
Kenwood DVD/NAV $350
Door pods $175
Sub box $130
Suede + material $115
Damper and foam $170
ID Q sub $220

you are right , but by the kenwood he copy pasted from sonic i think he does not want to break bank on an amp

but your right

Bing, I normally agree with everything you say and I defintely respect your opinions. You give a ton of great advice to a ton of people. However I wouldn't necessarily say that a crossfire or rockford amp would be "cheapening himself". If the xover on the sub is going to be kept at or below 80Hz, I doubt very much that he will hear a difference between a nice class D and a nice class A/B amp in the Z's on-road environment. Why drop $600 on a class A/B amp when a $300 class D will sound just as nice. I mean sure 2 audison amps would look nice on display and it would impress those that even know who audison is, but I don't feel it's money well spent in THIS scenario.

The preceding of course has just been MY two cents.

I do see where Bing was going with his statement.

Here would be the matching sub amp: $499
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=4288

And I also see where yusoslo is going with everything adding up. It really depends on if the visual factor matters in this install or not. I don't think the audible factor is going to play a role.

well cheaping out would be the kenwood

putting a nice amp would be the crossfore or RF

and high level of refinment would be the audison

the a/b amp will sound better than the mono to a trained ear

most won't hear the difference

the mono will be more efficient than the a/b
