Default Whats first to consider

Im going to throw it out there and say this question is already on the forums...what can I say I dont have 30 minutes to search this site for it :P

Anywho Im looking to put some sound into my car and Im trying to think what I should consider first to base the rest of the hardware off of. Im not going to give you the order I think it should go it because I just might look like a total retard but heres an example: Subs, Amps, speakers, receiver...

Oh and if by chance theres a link or a thread that has this info already in it I would be most greatful for it to be thrown in a response

Lee,

You didn’t mention if you have the OEM Clarion or the Bose “upgrade.”

I ask this because I think you are considering a “staged” build… adding components as your budget and time allows. Your steps will be different depending upon the OEM system you are replacing.

Very good point! My suggestion above will work best on the NON-Bose setup.

Since you dont have 30 minutes time to search, I dont have the time to give you recommendations.

^^ Street,

In fact, I pretty much followed the steps you suggest when doing my first CES build. The only difference in my case was installing good coaxial speakers in the rear. Probably a waste of $$’s, but love hearing the voice navigation on the fronts while the lowered/suppressed rears (I fade the rears to almost nothing, so I guess why have them at all) continue playing sound from the H/U.

As you point out… If the OP has the Bose “upgrade,” he will need to do a complete swap instead of a "stepped" replacement.

Bingo was his name-o

Yeah, if he has the Bose, there is almost no point in nickle-and-diming a system. It would be best to wait until you have enough in the budget for a complete swap. Besides, the Bose sounds fantastic, doesn't it?

i completely forgot to mention whats in my car atm...sorry about that. I have the "oh so sweet" (insert sacrasm)bose system in my car....

I didnt plan on it being a "staged" build. I was anticipating purchasing all the hardware prior to install and getting it all done at once. Seems like the easiest route.

Yeah man if you have the Bose, the easiest for YOU would be to replace all at once. Bose parts don't play nicely with non-Bose parts.

I really noticed it when I got my alpine idaX001 receiver...the sound wasnt that good to begin with...after my friend installed that it was just terrible. After finding out that receiver isnt even that good...now I have to buy a brand new one for my system.

That's not a bad headunit from what i've read about it. so long at you aren't going to try to win any SQ competitions with it. Compressed music just doesn't hold a candle to a well produced and recorded CD.
