Yet another "stealth" V1 Hardwire w/remote display & simple bracket.
I received a V1 from my wife for Father's Day, and I got around to installing it today. I did one of those "stealth" installs that, I think, were first done by Jelledge. I took a slightly different approach of putting my remote display above the rear view mirror. It's impossible to see from behind the car unless you're squatting down pretty far. Also, to see it from the drivers side window is next to impossible unless you've got your head stuffed through it. Here's a few pics of what I did...
This is a view of the disassembled V1 remote display unit:
4 small holes that I dremel-ed (new word?) into the top cover:

Pic looking up at the ceiling after wire wrapping it to the ceiling. I made 4 little holes in the liner with a small nail. Threading the wire through those little holes really was a pain in the @$$, but I got it in there. It's really quite firmly rooted to the spot.
Another of the same from an angle that makes a bit more sense:

Pic of the reassembled unit wired to the ceiling:

I then took the visor mount that came with the V1, removed the metal bracket, and dremel-ed a hole through it that would allow the ceiling push pin to go through it. Other's have either made a custom bracket, or epoxied the bracket to the push pin. I wanted to be able to use the bracket again as a visor mount should I want to, so tried not to do any permanent damage. I also used a thin piece of neoprene to do a kind of rubber mount so as not to allow any vibrations through the plug. Another, thicker piece was attached via silicone glue and is used to level the detector so as it has a good view front and rear.
Pic of the finished bracket assembly:

Bracket assembly with loaded V1:

I popped out the power point to tap power from. I just used the wire tap so thoughtfully supplied by Valentine.

I grounded it to a bolt under the center console:
All that was left was to thread the wires from their mount points to the remote equipment. I used a credit card to push the wire in the headliner, and I partially disassembled the inside trim moldings to thread the wire down next to the seatbelt and into the 'glove box'.

GREAT JOB!
I'm not happy with my original hard wire install, and I've been watching the other "Over The Passenger Shoulder" installs, but I haven't liked the "remote" locations used . Yours ROCKS!
Thanks for sharing the VERY well detailed install!

ZRIDERT: This is not really a scientifically proveable response, but I don't believe there is any degradation in signal reception (or if there is it's fairly insignificant). I've had the V1 mounted like this for about 5 months now, and it's caught lots of booby traps for me. I know laser works because I was warned just as I crested a hill and got caught. (shrug) Mebbe I should get a laser diffuser, eh?
AUDITO350Z:
Gotta blow the shnoz upon occasion, right?
ZLAND: I did this all in a few hours one saturday morning... say maybe 3 or 4 from what I can remember.

NICE JOB! Can you tell me if the unit moves at all when you press the mute button? I have mine on top of the visor with Velcro but it moves somewhat when I touch the mute.

Rahtok,
Just got my V1 in the mail and looking forward to putting in. Got a questions though. I can't tell from your pic but can you tell me if the detector is not being partially blocked by the 3rd break light once the rear hatch is closed? Thx!
