Default Sub Suggestions

I am ready to add a sub to my system. All of the bose equiptment are either removed or disconnected.

I am runnning SR6500's in the doors and want to add either a Polk SR 10" Sub or a JL W3 10.

I actually want to run 2 8's because I want more "punch" to the bass but could not find a box I liked since I dont want to take up too much hatch space.

So, more bass with more kick, what is recommended? Polk SR 10 or JL W3 with the corner box (wickedcas)?

I know sound is subjective, but just wanted to get some opinions.

Also, I did not see too many pictures of 8" subs. Anyone have any?

the corner box only has .5 cuft of airspace, which is a little small for both of those woofers. they'd probably be ok with some polyfill though. i would recommend maybe a boston acoustics G5, it only requires .5 cuft. the polk sr is more comparable to the w6, i would choose the polk sr over the w3

just something else to consider, how much wattage are you looking to run to the sub?
the polk SR handles 700 rms
the jl w3v3 handles 500 rms

either way i think you'll be happy but personally i would choose the SR over the w3v3, just my opinion

I am looking to send the sub 600W RMS (Alpine PDX 600.1). I am leaning towards the Polk but will check out the G5. I didn't realize that the wickedCas corner box only had .5 cf. Any suggestions on possibly running 8's with at stealth look?

If you want any type of real bass you won't want to run 8's. Your local audio place with some common sense can tell you why better than I can. I originally wanted 4 8" speakers and my installer wouldn't do it. I wound up with 1 Memphis 10 under the strut bar in a fiberglass enclosure.

I'm gonna say there is more than .5-cf of air space in the WickedCAS box. Now I haven't seen mine personally, or installed it yet but from the picture my wife sent the box isn't as small as it may seem. Again... I haven't seen/installed mine yet.

Also if you plan on running 600w RMS I'd stir away from the 10W3V3. Optimum power for the 10W3 is 250-300w RMS. If you wanted a JL sub and run 600w RMS look at the 12W7 and a larger box.

Of the 2 options you gave, I would pick the polk SR sub over the JL10w3v3 for what you are looking to get out of it.

Wow... I don't remember reading that. Well none-the-less a 10W3v3 won't handle 600w RMS.

.5ft^3 is not enough air space for a W7.

Do you guys think I can fit an SR104 Polk Audio sub in the wicked cas corner box? What is the depth of the box? If it is <7" (mounting depth of the sr104) do you think I can fit a spacer on it?

Thinking of getting either FI Q or Image Dynamics q10 in a wicked cas corner box. Anyone have a preference of one over the other? Do you guys think that this enclosure would do these subs justice, or better off with an under the strut. THanks for your input.

i have heard they are both wonderful subs. i believe the IDQ takes much less power than the FI Q (500 vs 1000 i think) so if you already have an amp that may help you decide.
