help with amp settings for my new rainbow components Pics! :)
Hi, I just got my Rainbow SLC 265 Kick component speakers in the mail. They're so beautiful and i can't wait to have them installed
. Of all the speakers I have reviewed, these are the only ones that I haven't been able to find a single negative review of. Everyone on caraudio.com/forum gushes about how amazing these silk tweeters sound. Will post follow up once installed.

First - The Rainbow kickbass components are going to be powered by a JL 300/2 amp. The manual for the speakers specifically states the following are required:
1)highpass
2)80hz
3)slope of 12dB/Octave
this is the link to the settings on my amp http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_a...php?amp_id=436
What should the freq range and input voltage be at? Also, i would assume both output mode and filter mode should be in the HP setting?
Second - I will be running one JL 10W6V2 sub off of a JL 500/1 amp. What amp settings would compliment the settings of the component mids the best?
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_a...php?amp_id=439
As far as the amp goes I have no idea on what to set anything at all. I'd appreciate it if you could recommend settings for as many of the settings as possible.
My HU is a Clarion MAX675VD
I know it's a lot to answer but i'd appreciate any suggestions you can give to help out an audio noob. If there's other information that i need to post please let me know. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

OK, This could get pretty in depth....you are basically asking how to tune the system as a whole and there are a ton of variables that I may or may not be able to address before you actually start tuning.
First, we look at the facts:
Clarion MAX675VD:
6 channel, 4volt preamp outs
onboard amplifier canceller
no built in xover
So first, turn OFF the onboard amp in the Clarion headunit.
Then, Follow this tutorial on how to set the gains on the amps properly to the proper watt output:
http://www.subwoofertools.com/forum/setgain.asp
Then on the crossover section of the 300/2:
Freq. Range = X1
Filter lope = 12dB
Turn set-screw to about 75Hz to start out
Filter Mode = HP
On the 500/1:
Filter lope = 12dB to start
Turn set-screw to about 75Hz to start out (approximate)
Infrasonic Filter = Off
Bass EQ = Off
From this point you can then tune up the sound using the 3-band PEQ in the headunit to flatten out any high spots in your response. 3-bands isn't a lot, but you can help out the overall sound in the most troubled areas.
once the above is done, and if the sound isn't quite right for your tastes, let me know and we'll figure out what needs adjustment from here.
