Talking Anyone know a good car audio specialist?

Hi,

Anyone know a good car audio specialist that I can talk to in regards to having front/rear speakers, headunit, custom subwoofer, and amps installed?

In addition, feel free to express your opinions on a good audio system that I can get for $1500-2000.

Thanks!

Might be better to ask in the Audio section of the forum...

If you have not found the audio forum in the past 21 months you are hopeless.

I could help you out, but it'd be a long drive to my shop.

Well ill give you some key start points. For 2k you can put together a nice system! Your headunit will not be a navigation avid d3 but you can run a good unit even with a screen and dvd capabilities if you want! in terms of setup I would install two amplifiers. One for speakers and one for your subwoofer. Depending on your price range your amplifier selection would vary, however you could afford a nice 4 channel amp as well as a nice sub amp; in terms of wattage something around 50-75 per speaker, and 800 for your sub will suffice especially when tuned right. speaker choice is once again preference and even though i specialize in high end audio I woudlnt advise you spending 1k on a componenet set. You can get a nice component setup for the front and just a regular coaxial component for the rear. the largest decision is where to mount the sub. I would glass a box in the rear corner or where the spare tire is but some people are happy with the under strut boxes. As far as install goes I cant do much for you as im located in CT but I have done blueprinting and system design if you need any of that done. Best of luck!

Smile Thanks!

Hey eat rice z33,

First of all, thank you for taking the time to respond and provide a good starting point for me. I know that there is an audio section in the modifications, but having it post here in the general section provides good visibility and exposure. I know nothing about car audio and would like to hear from other Z owners what they have in their cars.

And surely, yes, I can look into the yellow pages and even crutchfield like some of the responses I have gotten pointed to - but I am looking for more of other Z owners' setups, experiences, and preferences. It's definitely better than listening to and believing a person in the store who is trying to sell me a system instead. At least, hearing from fellow Z owners on this forum can give me a good general view. I just want to thank you for being the only one so far who has been of a real help!

So the setup you are suggesting is:
2xAmps (4 channel)
- 50-75 watts per speaker
- 800 watts for sub

As far as components, I had an Alpine head unit with Boston Acoustics on my '95 Civic back in college and was very happy with them. Quite pricey, but nice speakers. Currently, I am leaning towards, Polk Audio for the front speakers (Polk Audio db6501), and Kickers for the rear (Kicker 07DS600). And the sub, I was thinking of Rockford Fosgates in a custom-built box under the struts. I like the comfort of knowing that I still have my spare tire.

What do you think?
Any amps, speaker components or subs you highly recommend, even though it is a personal preference?
