Default Need advice on which componets to go with

I've narrowed down my component choices to either the Alpine SPX-17 REF http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...odel=SPX-17REF
or the Polk Audio MMC6500 http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...mponent&tp=106. Can anyone that has experience with either of these give me any recommendations? Thanks.

What he said!

The aluminum tweets are going to be really bright in the Z. And the Polks you are really paying for the names (both Polk and Momo, since they both get their share of the money).

What is the rest of your system going to consist of....might help recommend something.

Head unit: Pioneer DEH-P9800BT
Sub: is JL Audio 8W7
Sub Amp: Jl Audio 250/1

I found the Alpine and Polk components for about $200 each on Price grabber so there isn't much of a price difference. I'll most likely run an Alpine MRP F300 150Wx2 to power the components.

Ever considered MB Quart? It's always been between Quarts and Infinity for me.

I considered infinity but do not know what model to go with. I'm looking for the clearest sounding speakers I can find for about $200 on price grabber.

step away from mainstream audio..

did you buy the sub box already? because we can suggest a nice system at a much more affordable price that will sound much better

Nice headunit choice! As for the sub, feeding it 250 watts.....I would not get an amp/component setup at the 150watt mark. You will be drowning out the sub. I would maybe look for something around 80-100 rms per channel. Even at that, you may need to keep the gains on the component amp turned down to keep them from outplaying the sub.

For a hair more $ than you found those other sets for, I would go with something like the Rainbow SLC's (http://www.premier-audio.com/index.p...products_id=1). Great performing mids, warm tweets (if that's what you like). Very well tested.

So far I've heard that the Alpine has crappy tweeters and that the Polks are overpriced. Are the Polks worth getting though? I can get them on Pricegrabber for $190.
