Default The 12's broke my Homelink mirror AGAIN!!! :(

I was bumping the song "Showstoppers" and it happened again. The ******* cheap *** cast aluminum mounting post snapped right where the ball goes into the back of the mirror. You can see a pockets of air in the cracked area (manufacturing defects).

The last time (last fall I think) I was under warranty and Nissan replaced the $800.00 mirror. Now I'm out of warranty. What can I do? Is there a limited warranty on the reinstalled part from Nissan? Can I order just the mounting portion for the mirror?

I am ready to trade for a base model mirror and some cash if somone else wants to fix it. Any takers?

You mean as in my crossover point? I'm at about 60Hz at amp. Memphis 16-ST1000D- 1OHM @ 1100W RMS and Rockford P3 12's in a sealed enclosure.

To think I was about to upgrade to 2 of the RF Power Series and add in my other 16-ST1000D and an alternator. Not so much now- I'm scared of spiderwebbing my rear window.

i was making a very general comment that you bass is to much , nothing specific

truthfully my front wipers jump off my glass and my reaview has always remained in tact

to add in WPB FL it gets 95 degress

you have a defective rear view assembly

you can't be making the pressure i make

that being said if yours falls and my don't you have a defect

your out of warranty , for $800 , i would just remove factory unit assenbly , purchase an aftermarket assembly and install myself

sorry about your trouble

Here are the parts to the mirror.

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...=7&catalogid=2

BTW, the OEM mirror is made by Gentex. You can check ebay or other sources to see if you can find a replacement mirror or replacement parts.

Imagine the damage they're doing to your ears. Nissan can't swap them out for a mere $800. I'd gladly pay $800, $8,000, or even $80,000 to undo the damage done to my ears. Fortunately it was done on the flight deck and reactor compartments of a US aircraft carrier and not in the car.

You get one set of ears to destroy so choose your song carefully.

+1. Lost a lot of hearing in my left ear from a pair of Koss Pro AA's pounding 70's and 80's rock into 'em. I don't need anymore bass than my 10" sub can produce (even though it's mainly the high frequencies that do the most damage).

Awesome thanks.... If I can find a replacement mounting post, I'll fix this one, sell it, and buy the Base mirror. What do you guys think is a fair asking price for a Homelink in good condition?

I wear hearing protection (just squeeze in plugs) when I feel like cranking it. I know it sounds like BS, but I've been doing that since the mid-90's when my Soundstream SPL 12's came with a little keychain that had earplugs in them. My hearing is perfect-just had it tested for work a couple weeks ago. Thanks for the advice though.

Nice... Considering I don't even use it. You guys realize that the inside circuitry is old *** through hole components that you could probaly draw a schematic for, build on a breadboard, and drop in a wireless module and accomplish the same thing? About 20-30 dollars in parts. Hell, you could disassembly your garge door opener and retrofit it in the huge mirror housing...

That is so true....my wifey has a Highlander and the drivers side sun visor has a Homelink built into it. The flap doesn't stay in any position except up. The tension is lost on the hinge. Toyota wants $ 650.00 for a sun visor.

I think I will hold off.

You beat me to it. When I saw the title to this thread, that was the first thing I thought of. Ears, nervous system, bones, etc.

As a rock fan from the 60/70/80s, I can attest to the damage from loud music. I still chuckle when a car passes by on a street with it boomin' and vibratin'. I know exactly what the owner has to look forward to ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tinnitus

when you want to shatter that rear window let me know, I have a DDD cd of the 1812 Overture where the cannons get down to 6 cycles.

^ assuming his system can play 6hz with any output.... which I doubt. Not minimizing his system, but 6hz LOUD is no easy feat.
