Default Belltronics Vector 995 direct wire install ? Problem solved, see details

The Bellronics plug in will not work in the Z as the tip of the plug in is not long enough. My cell phone plug in works fine as it has a longer tip.

Found out there is in fact a cig lighter hidden on the passenger side. Was able to tap into the red power wire there. Had to remove some of the plastic cover from the wires. then used the 3m clip.

Was able to ground the direct wire to a bolt that holds something to the body, simply by slipping the connector to the bolt (had to cut it as the bolt was a bit too big) and using a elastic stop nut to hold it there. Wrapped everything with electrical tape. Now the radar detector turns on with everything else when you turn the key.

I am finding 2 wire bundles under the passenger dash area. I have a 3m clip that would allow me to clamp onto a 14 to 18 wire. My questions is this. Can I tap into any wire in the bundles and ground wire to a screw on something that is attached there and the result will be that my V995 will get power when the key is turned?

Yes I do, and do you have a problem with it? I do

If I program 2 garage doors in it, it works fine for a few days and then like magic, it opens both doors. I for now just have 1 door in there to prevent this. I might ask the dealer about that next time I am there.

i just tapped mine to the fuse box. been working perfect since. i think hes asking if you have a homelink cause theres a company that makes a direct connect to the plug behind the mirror. i forgot the name but its the same place that sells the bracket for beltronics that mount to your rearview mirror. i bought one and its simply awesome

I don't use mine with the garage door but maybe once a year at my parents house. Always works fine.

You can cut your radar detector cord off about a foot from the plug to the unit and put fork shaped connectors on the wires. Cut one side of the connector off so it is just a small prong. Then you can stick the connectos into the back of the mirror where the power plug goes. I've had my Beltronics V....can't remember what it is this way for over a year.
