Default SWI JACK Install Help

Trying to get my steering wheel controls to work with the DNX 8120.

Where does the white interface wire go from the SWI-JACK to the 350Z harness? Or does it even need to be connected? Says "Connect appropriate interface wire." That's the white one on the jack itself. What is the vehicle Steering wheel control wire?

you should have gotten a vehicle reference table with the swi-jack, look under nissan 350z, 06 on, all the way to the right, it says what you need to do...150ohm resistor to one wire, 47 ohm resistor to another, both ends to white wire, ground another wire in the vehicle harness...etc etc...

Thanks for the reply. I'll see if I can get to it tonight. Gave up on it yesterday!

I think their wiring diagram may be off (1 wire) they show five across the bottom and I have six across. I went ahead and tried anyways but no joy.

Here are the vehicle specific instructions for you.

I am going to be installing the same setup, DNX-8120 and the SWI Jack in a NON-Bose 350z. I read the instructions on the website and it is still unclear to me. I do not have the Bose stereo setup, so does that mean I do not need to connect any resistors? The website states the following:

With BOSE® - Connect a 150 ohm resistor to pin 22 in the vehicle connector. Connect 47 ohm resistor to pin 23 in the vehicle connector. Connect the free ends of the resistors to the INTERFACE'S White wire. Connect pin 25 in the vehicle connector to Ground

It would seem that the whole paragraph relates to 350z's that came with Bose stereos only. According to the diagram above the instructions on PAC-Audio website I don't even have a pin 25 on my car. Can someone clear this up for me?

I also have the non-bose stereo setup. I should give it another go tonight, see what happens.

Hey if you figure it or get some type of solution, share the wealth...

My understanding is that you need to use the resistors with or without Bose because the way the buttons on the steering wheel communicate with the stock radio is the same no matter which factory system you have, the only difference is the shape of the plug. Both plugs have the correct pin numbers on them so I would assume that you will still use pin 22 and 23 whether you have Bose or not. I would try that first, and if it doesn't work I would call the PAC tech support.

That would make sense except for grounding of pin 25. According to the diagram on PAC-Audio website the NON-Bose plug does not have a pin 25. I did write to PAC-Audio tech support with this question and I am waiting for their response. I will post any reply I receive from PAC.

Im getting my PAC SWI today for my D3. I was wondering the same thing about the control wire. Everything else seems very simple, but that wire connection has me baffled too. Let us know what they say.

Check out the last post in the link I pasted above. I had the same issue regarding the grounding wire... just patch it into the HU's harness ground wire.

^ good link thanks

So, both ends of the resistors gets mated with the end of the white wire, while the other ends of the resistors gets tapped into the OEM steering wheel harness pins/wires.

Bingo I edited my post in the DIY thread, let me know if it is more clear, so in the future the people that read the DIY thread can understand it without needing to contact PAC.

These are the clarified instructions I received from PAC-Audio this morning.

With BOSE® - Connect a 150 ohm resistor to pin 22 in the vehicle connector. Connect 47 ohm resistor to pin 23 in the vehicle connector. Connect the free ends of the resistors to the INTERFACE'S White wire. Connect pin 25 in the vehicle connector to Ground.

Non BOSE - Connect a 150 ohm resistor to pin 21 Red/Green in the vehicle connector. Connect 47 ohm resistor to pin 22 Orange in the vehicle connector. Connect the free ends of the resistors to the INTERFACE'S White wire. Connect pin 23 Yellow/Green in the vehicle connector to Ground

Same general instructions as other people have stated in this thread, I had mentioned that I would post them when/if I got a response from PAC and I have.
