Default Line-Out Converter

I was searching threads about adding a sub to my 2008 stock Bose system and i read i could add a line out converter to the signal going to the Bose sub, and send that signal to an amp and sub. Has anyone done this and if so how does it sound?

I have the same question about this line out converter. (Yes, I searched, but I suck.)

What does it do exactly?
Why do I need it?

im not sure how well it will work with the factory system. A line converter is spliced into the factory harness and gives you RCA's to run an amp for a deck that does not have RCA's

I've done it before... but I think the microsoft turns the bass down if it gets too loud. At least that's what it appeared to be doing to my sub. I believe there is a way to bypass the mic though IIRC.

i did this ony my 05 bose z when i replaced a headunit but not the factory speakers. it allowed me to use the Headunits preouts and convert it back to the z speaker level signal so that the bose amp could process it. sounds great if u know what ur doing with the tuning.

The best way to do this is to use Audiolinks PowerDriver PD2 and Cablelink SWNB95. You do not have to do any cutting or splicing and you maintain all the factory functions.
The reason a line output converter will not work correctly is that the signal coming from the Bose unit is already at preamp level.
The PowerDriver will adjust that signal to match the input to your after market amp.
