Default Will an OEM 2005 Bose HU fit in a 2008 Enthusiast?

Since it's a Bose, is it a straight swap, or are there amps to worry about?

Yes and no. It will physically fit but they are not the same. The bose uses an incompatible amp and speakers so unless you replace/add those too, it won't really work. If you choose not to add the complete Bose system, then you'll need an adapter, etc. to make the Bose work with the non-Bose system. Most people find it's not worth the money for the low quality result and spend the money on an aftermarket HU that's much better than the Bose to start with.

If I am wrong,,,I apologize,,,but the dash for the 03-05 have a different shape than the 06 and up. So, the 05 headunit would not physically match up with the 08 dash, due to the difference in shape. I have an 06,,,the headunits/dash have more (round type) corners than the 03-05. Hence, the difference in the Metra dash kits 03-05 (Metra kit 99-7402) and 06 and up (Metra kit 99-7602). This post is not to step on anyone's toes,,,Again,,if I mis-read the question or such I apologize...Best Regards.

No, you're probably correct about the physical matchup. That's one more reason not to do it.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the replies, folks.

Thought I was onto a pretty good, cheap alternative for my Z.
Apparently not.

Thanks again.

MarvinMartian,,,,have you checked around the internet IE: Crutchfield,,,Woofersect.com, places like that. There are many good headunits out there at reasonable prices. From single din, basic's (which is still better than factory) too DoubleDin Multimedia set-ups. Honestly,,if you decide to look into aftermarket,,,and do not want to spend a lot of money, I have a brand new, mint condition Alpine CDA-9886 in the box that I have decided to sale. It also comes with the Ipod speed connect. I bought it for my wife's vehicle,,but she has decided to sale her SUV (gas prices). I have the Alpine W-200 in my Z and in my truck,,,,So, now I have a new headunit for sale. If you might be interested,,,PM me,,,I would be glad to work something out with you. I think you would be much happier with the Alpine than swapping out another factory headunit.. Best Regards,

At the risk of getting flamed, I'm going to retake this post.

I have an 06 base 350Z and I want to keep the "oem" look in my car. So, I'd like to put in there a Bose 6-CD player. I want to use the Bose head unit but I want to use an aftermarket amp and speakers.

What do I need to accomplish this project ??
