![Question](https://my350z.com/forum/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I was searching the forum for radio reception and it occurred to me that I may have hooked my stereo up wrong. So since I got my HU from Crutchfield I called them.
My question to them was the harnesses I hooked up to the factory harness has 2 blue wires one on each adapter.
1. Blue - "Power Antenna"
2. Blue White - "Amplifier turn-on"
The stereo has one Blue wire and it's "Remote Turn-on".
Crutchfield said that all three of these wires are to be wired together is this correct?
But it would really be four wires connected with my amp lead that will be run back to my amp?
Thanks for your time.

The HU I have is a Dual XHD6425. The supplied harness from Crutchfield has the solid blue wire as does my receiver.
Here's the problem.
In the instructions that come with the Dual HU state that the Blue wire is the remote turn on. Here's a quote from the Owner Manual what the Blue is used for "Connect to amplifier or power antenna"
The instructions from the harness that Crutchfield sent has 2 wires, one Blue and one Blue-White.
Blue is for Power Antenna and Blue-White is for Amplifier Turn-on.
It's confusing me. What the hell do I do ahhhh lol my head hurts.
HU pdf - http://www.vap0rxt.com/dual.pdf (PAGE 3)
Harness pdf - http://www.vap0rxt.com/harness.pdf (PAGE 1)
Thanks guys for responding, I love the Z and don't want to f anything up.
FYI the HU works fine but my radio signal seems horrible, although it was pretty bad with the OEM stereo also.
I currently have the solid blue to the solid blue, the blue-white is taped off as I don't have an amp yet.

Thanks stanleylee, I was about to make a picture myself.
That clarifies a little bit of my problem, seems that I have it hooked up properly but which wire is required to send back to the amp. (when I have one)

m.. look like Crutchfield was right about " all three of these wires are to be wired together " ( i could be wrong!)
why not just call them again and ask for names!
so if anythings go on u can make them pay for it

And the ground from the HU needs to be grounded to the car itself? Or is it safe to use the amp ground?
On a side note, if I hooked up the amp to the "amp turn-on" blue-white from the above picture, wouldn't the amp turn on with the key? Or is there some sort of relay that tells that the receiver is on?
God I feel like an idiot.

Go to www.audiolink.biz search products PD-4 and Cablelink CLNB95C. If your system is a Bose this is the best way to get the performance you are looking for.

The blue wire from the aftermarket deck connects to the blue wire on the Metra harness to "power up" the stock antenna . The Metra harness is a universal Nissan part, so unless you have a Bose system the blue/white wire is not needed. Later on when you get an aftermarket amplifier you will also use the blue wire from the new deck to trigger the amp to turn on, thus you will have two wires connected to the blue wire on the back of your new deck. As far as the ground you need to ground it to the car, as there is probably not a wire on the car side of the "amp ground" wire on the Metra harness.

Thanks for the reply Pete.
I've been just running off my 80gig Zune since last weekend. I'll be running my amp wire and RCA this coming weekend as I will be getting my zenclosure Tuesday. I figured what you are saying to be true as I believe that myself. I just didn't want to be the only deciding factor, I tend to get myself in trouble more often than not with these kind of things.
Will the ground connected to the car chassis do you think that will help with my horrible reception?
I should get about 10+ HD radio stations but all of them start seeking once I start moving.

In reading the manual, it says there is a limit to the load on this wire - 300mA. It also says to use for the amp OR the antenna - not both.

So since I'll be running the antenna power plus two "system remote" wires to two aftermarket (non-Bose) amps, I'm concerned that I might overload this wire.
Any thoughts or advice? The only option I've seen is to just wire the antenna power lead to the ACC circuit...
Thanks...PabloZ

Well, no one responded, so I asked Pioneer (on their website) about this issue of how much load I should put on the blue/white wire. Below is their response.
Sure, they want me to go back to the dealer (don't use them) and get them to do a relay job, but it does seem to indicate there is a potential problem if you try to power both the antenna booster and the amp turn-on circuits with that wire.
Actually, I've hooked up relays before - so the biggest problem would be finding a place to put it behind the dash.

We suggest you consult with your Pioneer installing dealer, as you will need a relay if you need to turn on two amps and a powered antenna.
Thank You,
