Just Ordered Valentine 1...
Just ordered it today, should be getting it Wednesday, and I'll let you know how it is...
Anyone else who has this, what do you think about it?

it wont detect cops if their radars are not on, also it wont help against police radar unless you have a shield infront of you(a shield being another car that takes the laser). best thing to do is to know where the cops like to camp out in your area. other than that this thing is golden worth every penny considering it has already paid of its price for me.

Just getting things straight, so I don't confuse myself.

Best investment ever...Will pay for itself within the first day you turn it on. It will make a huge difference in KA and K band, kinda useless for laser...make sure you turn X band off or you'll get a ton of false alerts. Make sure you dont put it too low, to the point where the rear antenna doesnt have a clear view through the rear window.
I am "evaluating" mine right now (got it last week). If I don't feel the need for it after a month, it is going back for a full refund.
I have been on the fence about V1 for a while and the reason for that is simple; every speed trap I have ever seen here in Denver was shooting laser. Yes, there are conditions in which a detector can protect them but those are EXTREMELY rare cases of nothing but sheer luck. A laser beam that is merely an inch in width even at a great distance will have to be reflected off another car/surface as one hell of a luckily shot for it to land squarely on or immediately around your detector. Reading the V1 owner's manual closely-enough clearly indicates that well. With laser proliferation on a continuous rise among law enforcement, detectors are becoming less and less relevant with every passing day. No doubt about that and no one can argue it.
So far during this first week, V1 has made me intimately familiar with the locations of all automatic doors in my neighborhood and in all areas I happen to drive by, regardless of which mode I might be in (A, l, L). Its excessive K falsing is another damn annoying attribute. But at least I am not a true newbie; I have read through more information on radardetector.net forums over the past 2 years (yes, been on the fence for a while!) than most others. I am familiar with the X and K reprogramming and will be doing so tomorrow. That should make it a bit quieter.
Yes, K is still out there, as is Ka, but even they have now operate at POP so a detector won't do much against them even though their chances of "scatter" are a bit better than laser. But they are gradually getting overtaken by laser. The places most people like to speed on; open highways, are already replete with laser guns since highway patrol teams have more money to invest in new tech. After all, speed citations are their bread and butter.
The bottom line is that no shrewd company, whether VR, Bell, or Escort will ever admit that their prized products today enjoy perhaps 10% of the relevance they did 15 years ago.

you guys make it sound like you got twenty tickets a month before getting the detector and now you get none
but nonetheless i rode in a friends car who had one, pretty damn good, but again like usmanasif said if they're out to get tickets (as opposed to just driving with the radar on) then you're gonna get one either way

If you are concerned about getting hit with Laser then get the Laser Jammer. My brother has the M-25 laser blinder and that thing works wonders. We went through a speed trap at 90 and they didn't even go after us

Well I just got my radar today, pretty simple to use, not really confusing. The suction cups keep on slipping off, but I'm assuming that's because I took it off and the windhshield was hot.
Another thing, to make sure the K and Ka bands are for cops correct? While it is possible for a cop to be using the X-band. Ka is almost always a cop correct? Well to make sure, I drove around town and went to Albertson's to buy groceries and right in front of the store, it went haywire, is that normal? Does that mean that whatever the security system, or sliding doors is also using K-band type sensors?
Thanks.
