Default I got screwed buying a sub and amp

It looks like I got ripped off on ebay..argh. Anyhow, wanted to ask about advice from experienced paypal users. I saw this guy's ad (rjautosound) on ebay selling amps and subs at cheap prices and he said he was triny to build feedback and was new, so he was blowing out inventroy. anyhow, i emailed him privately about a jl 500/1 amp and a 10w7....he responded saying 600 shipped, which is a awesome price..so i decided to pay...he sent me a paypal request (he's a premier verified member), and i paid it through my acct using my bank....SO, my question is, if i dispute it, whats the likely hood that i'll see my hard earned money back? any thoughts?!!! give me some good news guys, i'm bummed!!!

That is right, paypal has a dispute process and should work pretty good since they are owned by Ebay now. The only problem might be if you didn't buy their buyer protection and if the guy already took the money out.

I've been screwed over through Ebay myself before. Sent someone my money and never got the item. They were in San Diego I beleive. Anyway, contacted the police. Apparently this guy did it to many people, so I spoke with a specific detective who was handling the case.

Never saw anything.

So, from now on I use this advice. ALWAYS call and talk to the person first. Verify that it's them. If it's a company, get the phone and use a yellow pages style online to verify the address.

That way, if they screw you, you at least have an address and phone number and can go regulate.

I have had only one disappointment on ebay in 5 years and even though I did not buy Paypal insurance as item was only 25.00 they refunded me 19.76. You can file claims with Ebay also but they have a 25.00 deductible and a limit to 250.00 I believe so Paypal might be better and if you used a credit card you are most likely covered there also.

I had a Paypal dispute once, not for something I bought, for something someone ELSE bought with my checkcard number.

It was about $700 too, pissed me off.

Do two things: go to your bank and inform them (they may or may not be able to help you) and get a statement showing the money sent via Paypal (because Paypal and eBay will want it).

Then contact Paypal AND eBay (eBay is actually who ended up getting me back my money, not Paypal).

It took about 2 months total for them to sort it out, which kinda sucks.
