needed 34" total of 3" port to be tuned @32Hz



The sound quality is amazing compared to my last memphis setup...I'd definitely recommend any FI line

everything looks great

i would have put the driver more toward passenger side and ports together on drivers side

i use a ported enclosure as well with 1 each 15" and 2 each 4" PSP ports with a 90 degree elbow and mine is 35 hertz and it is tough getting them in

What kind of ports are those? Looks good, I'm really not a fan of sub/port up though. But I like it, is it covered up most the time or do you leave it like that?

 

I actually built it. I built the four sides first, and glued it to the bottom of the hatch. Then I laid fabric down and fiberglassed to make the bottom of the box and seal it to the car.


And heres a pic with the top but before my new sub and ports. After this, I covered the floor in Stinger sound deadener and stuffed in polyfill everywhere i could around the box to help with road noise (huge difference)


Next were the ports which I ordered from partsexpress.com...the total was kinda pricy but they look great.

Then came the fun part...making the 'beauty board' which follows the contours of the trunk and the only thing i actually carpet. I just used 1/8" particle board and spent about 5 hours on getting the curves right. Was well worth it though

I thought keeping this lip would be nice so I could still put my things back here without having to worry about them rolling around onto the sub/ports

WalMart JUST so happened to have matching carpet for me! haha




i ALMOST left it inverted, but then decided against it...

very nice build. Let us know how you like the port tubes. I've never used port tubes and curious if, assuming proper dimensions, they sound as good as a properly built slot port

 

Yea I really had no other choice other than aiming the ports up...and no I dont ever cover it...no real reason to I dont think...

 

I really like the port tubes...i ALWAYS use round over slot when i can, seems like a more 'finished' look to me

 

Oh, I love the box. Thank you for the dimensions also. I'm going to rip my current enclosure out and build this one. When you get a chance, could you post the part #'s for the port tubes needed, and length also? I'm assuming you needed "elbows" also?

One question though. How did you get the factor floor mat to tuck into the enclosure so clean?

o also so did u drill the sub into the box and then put the beauty board on top of it or is the sub screwed onto the beauty board im confused?

is the lip from the beauty board or from the box?

 

Yea i'll PM you the part numbers, but what do you mean tucking the stock carpet? Are you talking about around the sub? I carpeted that with stuff from walmart

And the ports and the sub are drilled into the top board also (as shown in pictures)

The beauty board is only 1/8" thick so that lip you see is mostly from the box...If i would have built the box flush, I wouldnt have had enough clearance for the sub to sit inside

 

o ok i see well im going to b atempting to build something like this tomorow so hmm im gonna need a deeper mounting depth so were going to see hwo ti turns out hopefully good

The area where the thick stock floor mat tucks away into the front side of the enclosure. How did you get it to tuck away? Did you cut the stock floor mat or tuck it away some how?
