Default Alpine 9886 questions

Which one 9886 or the X100?
Alright, im about to buy either alpine 9886 of the X100. Does anyone with these HU's have any problems or what are your opinions?
I was thinking, when i get these installed will i lose my stock 6 disc CD changer?
I dont know if thats a stupid question, but i really want to know..

you will loose the indash 6 cd changer because your changing the unit. the x100 is a very nice unit as long as you dont like to carry cd's around... no spot for them. its primarily an ipod driven unit

I have the 9887. I love it. I got it for the imprint function, and that alone sold me on it. I use my ipod most of the time, but I want the ability to put a cd in if I want.

+1 I am also running the 9887 w/ Imprint. I was just out tweaking my sound though, with the MultiEQ off, and not sure which one sounds better. I just might have to go active.

I'd suggest taking a hard look at the 9887 if you are considering a 9886 -- time alignment is your friend!

And do not buy from Crutchfield. They gouge horribly on price. Check out woofersetc.com.

+1 on 9887

I bought a used 9887 for $220 on the caraudio.com forums -- then purchased the install kit from crutchfield (they DO have good prices on the accessaries ). I figure I saved about $1500 by buying half my system used. Of course I might have problems down the road -- only time will tell, right?

I have the 9886 and I'm pretty satisfied. The display is great. Only thing is I wish it was red instead of blue. The european version comes lit in Red. Maybe you could find that one on ebay.
