Question HELP!!! What's the best sub setup for the stock location?

I am going to install an audio system, but want to keep a stealth look. Those of you that put custom sub boxes, free air subs, and basslink in the stock locations behind the seats, which sounds the best? I listen to all types of music except country so which/what kind of setup would be good for me? Thanks for your opinions and help!

Mike

I'm happy with the basslink - it has a ton of power and the hassle factor is low since it has a built in amp and crossover.

It sounds quite good, and can still "roll" loudly if I want to listen to rap.

I'd get it professionally installed though - install is kind of a pain - and I think Dynamat is a good idea as well. (I get some rattles when bassing hard)

I installed the Basslink also. After two days of installing it, I'm happy with the results. I don't have any rattles yet and it has more bass than I need. The installation was more than I expected since the mounting of the Basslink wasn't straightforward. I had to bend a metal tab out of the way and mount it with only the two front brackets screwed in. Other than that, the install was straightforward. I've never heard a free air 10" in that spot to compare it to but I can't imagine it being better.

Cliff,

It sounds like your install was like mine. Did you screw it to the top or the bottom?

Can you try listening to "Without Me" by Eminem and tell me if it makes every bit of plastic in the whole car rattle?

I installed the new JL Audio 8" sub, back of the drives seat and used the $5 Bose panel from Nissan. I had to tone it down some or I could feel the vibration thru the seat.

Smile Bose Touring - Bass Problem

In our latest ZcarPC

Tony DG put a Fan to bring in Air to the compartment with the Bose Woofer. That is where our ZcarPC is at.

Guess what the car has Bass now, I had to turn down the Bass to 1+

I guess the port of the Back Seat area was the issue.

Cut a two inch whole in the Metal and vent the plastic over cover.

Tony DG has one with some 50 holes in the plastic you have to nibble out the metal.

Cheers Amy -

Maybe a part's swap can be done.

Hey Zaph32, I installed the Basslink to the top of the compartment. I originally was thinking of bolting it down so I mounted it there so I could get to the other side of the bolt. I ended up using sheet metal screws though so I guess I could have mounted it to the bottom......if I don't hit anything important like the gass tank

I'll download oh I mean buy Eminem "Without me" and check it out. The only rattles I have right now come from when I listen to DJ Majic Mike (old school bass test CD).

I paid $220 for my basslink online but you can get them for under $200 off of ebay.

Hahahaha...DJ Magic Mike, that brings back memories.

I dug out "Techmaster PEB" for bass testing also.

$100 for basslink to my door on ebay, BRAND NEW, not refurb... I mounted it behind the 6 1/2 by the driver tucked away, chopped one of the mounts in half and used only one of the stoppers, it holds perfectly still. looks CLEAN, sounds even better. NO rattles whatsoever. It's a perfect sub for those looking for background bass, and exactly what i wanted after having my 2 L7 12's in my Yukon (a bit too much when your ears start popping when the gain of ur amp is at 1/2 and the bass is flat).
