I'm not exactly sure which section to post this on, but I have a problem with my stock nav. It seems as though it isn't getting power and doesn't want to turn on when the car is turned on. I don't even hear the DVD rom boot up nor can I eject the DVD. So I know its not getting power.
Does the Nav get power from the headunit? Could the problem be my PAC that installed for my aftermarket amp? HELP PLEASE!

i think i know what your problem is. it happen to me a month ago. the nav screen wouldnt turn on sometime it takes a while to turn on. i also got a pac switch. no the nav dont get power from the bose hu. i just cant quite remember what i did to fix it. once i remember i post it up. for now i think you got a loose wire in there somewhere
yeah i remember what i did... i disconect the cable that is connected to the door and the board. since my motor keep breaking i have to unplug the power to the motor and after a while my nav thought that my nav door is close so it wouldnt turn on. so i just unplug the flex cable.
sounds confusing but it really isnt
is your nav door still working?

I think it has something to do with how cold it is. It happened to me once though in the summer and it came on after about 10 minutes of driving. I didnt think much of it cause it continued to work after.
It sounds as though the DVD player is what is broken in your Nav System. That’s a common problem, and probably requires a complete replacement of the entire OEM Navigation unit.
You can see why a mechanically-dependent navigation system (such as this DVD-based device) is so weak. If you do need to replace the navigation system, go with an aftermarket product. It will cost less, be much more reliabilty, and provide far superior performance.

If you need to repair your OEM GPS device, I recommend looking at aftermarket solutions. Avoid systems using DVD-based and HDD-based navigation. Choose a system that is ROM-based (using flash memory and no moving parts) since that provides better performance and reliability.

--I definitely will do that spike. Especially since my bose HU skips all the time in cold weather. Thanks for the advice. But for now I was hoping there would be someone that had this same problem that could help me trouble shoot it.
I would buy a new HU now, but my Xterra is in dire need of some tires.

Not to spam here but I have a fully functional '03 OEM DVD/Nav unit for sale if you need it. PM me and let me know if you are interested. Not looking to make a ton of money as I just want to help another Z-guy out.

Do you guys have any idea if there is a fuse or relay for the Nav? It seems to turn on every once in a while so its not totally dead. Give me ideas or input please.
just replaced my fact nav with aftermarket.ive got an 03 z and had same exact symptoms for a while and one day it had no power at all.went to stealership and took everything apart and said oh ya its not covered under your extended warranty and cost me 200.so i jst went and bought nav accesory for my aftermarket hu and a touch screen and works 100 times better than stock, does so much more stuff..

Do you have the bose system? If so, how does it sound with the aftermarket headunit? I'll probably be going this route. I'm just mad that I have to do this you know? Electronics on Nissans in general suck the big one.
