After Market Bluetooth
I have a 2005 350Z and want to add Bluetooth that will run through my stereo. I have an Iphone and really only need it to mute when a call comes in answer and hang up. I don't care about the phone book I can place a call from the phone. Any help on whats out there and what works?
I *love* my parrot LS3200. As bad as I want to upgrade to a double din, I dont want to swap the Parrot that has served me so well.
basically, the best way is to go with this
http://www.quickconnectproducts.com/...ind.php?id=176
its a no-cut harness... So, no warranty issues. Makes install a breeze, takes longer to get behind the radio than to install the actual modules.
On my G with Bose, the harness has its own amp and not only cuts out the music on calls, but also maintains it's own volume levels so you're not constantly fiddling with that.
coincidentally, the guy that answers tech/support questions for those quickconnet harnesses has an infiniti FX I think, quite knowledgeable about Nissans (and well, everything else). He answers any questions pretty quickly and is active on g35driver.
kinda adds a substantial amount to the project (if you need the QCHBB-NI version), but really, the harnesses are great. its very quality.
Parrot has given me great support, even sending me unreleased firmware when I got one of the first Blackjack II's that came out. Samsung used a crappy bluetooth stack, but Parrot got it squared away and has been flawless.

Parrots are sold at Best Buy and Circuit City. In fact, I've seen CC carrying these no-cut harnesses. From what I know, the guy behind quick connects is somehow tied to the distribution of Parrot here. He's not Parrot, but works pretty closely with them. The kits in CC may in fact be from QuickConnects. I've seen some deals on the Parrots at BB and CC.. I dont think they really fly off the shelves due to the need for the extra harness (and cost) or the complexity of wiring.
The Parrots without display (6000) are good performers and make installation really easy... finding an aesthetic location for a tiny button is 10x easier than a LCD display. But I found that doing pairing and browsing thru my contacts was much easier on the LCD models like the 3200. Plus, I have pictures associated with contacts, so I dont really have to read who's calling. For instance, I have a picture of a donkey for a jacka$$ at work. And pic of slim jims comes up for another guy I'll just call Jerky. haha.
