Default pioneer fh-8000bt controlling a dvd player?

hey everyone i just installed my new HU (pioneer fh-8000bt) and it says in the manual it can control an external dvd player.... but thats all it says(besides that the dvd player is sold separately). i called pioneer to ask for more info but they dont sell a standalone dvd player so they werent that helpful. i think what it is is the IP-Bus thing? anyways can someone please chime in to what this really can do as far as controlling dvds and what standalone single din dvd players are compatible? i would REALLY appreciate it. i want to have an external single din dvd player and a moniter in the cubby, yet syncronized with the cd player, so there would only be one connection to an external amp and overall simplicity... thanks a million!

Yeah, its a little strange. Pioneer does not currently have a stand-alone DVD plater so even though it may control one...there is not one to control.

What you can do however, is get a separate DVD player (make sure its decent), locate it behind you in one of the cubbys, hook it up through a Pioneer CD-RB10 and the IP-bus input on the deck and you will have DVD sound through your AUX input. With a decent 12 volt DVD player it will come with a remote. You can use an IR repeater to operate the DVD player even though its behind you. Just make sure the 'eye' is in front of you. As for a screen you can run just about any 7" in that cubby. I am running an Alpine TMEM-770 and it fits perfectly and looks sweet.

Not sure about th '07 but my '03 was fairly easy. You need to make it custom fitted no matter what so there may be some minor cutting involved as well as you need to attach it somehow. This is where creativity really helps a lot.

But yeah, IP-bus is Pioneer's control peripheral. With the unit I mentioned though, there is no control but rather an AUX input conversion so you can at least run sound through it. If I remember correctly though, the peripheral does not support any type of video input at all - just audio.

ok i think im up to speed, hey by the way O.D., you seem to be very informed so ill ask you, im not going to keep making new threads... i was looking at this moniter thats touch screen... whats the deal? do you have to have some kind of special dvd player to accept the touch screen inputs? or does it not control the dvds, just screen functions?? i tried finding something but searching 'touch screen' is a needle in a haystack! thanks a million!

My Alpine screen is touch screen but only when you use it with compatible Alpine head units (no thanks!). Other touch screens are compuster based so you would need a compuster to control it or interface with it.

I only bought it because it looks great, fits well and was REALLY cheap.
