Default Ipod Mount Ideas.. and BT Mic.

Hi Guys.. I just Purchased a Pioneer Fh8000bt Head unit. It has Usb and Blue Tooth built in. I am having a hard time deciding where to run the USB for the ipod. I guess my first choice would be to go in the glove box behind the passenger seat. Not sure how much of pain it would be to run through to here. Any advise as to how? If that turns to be too much of a pain I guess my next choice is to run it straight to the center console and drill straight in the front of the box. I want to put a rubber type grommet in the hole that I drill to prevent the USB cord from retracting back into the hole. Any suggestions??
Thanks in advance guys.

i ran my ipod connector through the cubby right about the player, just drilled through the back of it and ran the cable through.

I ran my iPod connector to the compartment in the console between the seats. I put my Bluetooth mic on the pillar to the left of the driver.

thanks guys.. looks like i will run it to the console seeing that i use the cubby alot. any word on a rubber grommet or something that i can plug the hole with but still run the wires through??

One more ?
i was thinking of mounting the BT mic in that pillar as well. does that panel just pop right out like the rest of the interior panels?

ran my ipod cable in the cubby above the radio as well.. drilled the hole in the side of the cubby. in the lower back corner. the ipod lays flat in there. I leave it unless going to work, where I have a ipod radio...transfer it back and forth in those instances. Its still a usable space. I now put my iphone on top of the ipod, in there when I'm driving...sometimes I put my sunglasses in the mix as well (since for some reason the sunglasses holder is too damn small for any curved sunglasses.)

yup w/ some force the pillars will pop right off.

In my mom's FX35 I installed a Nissan Ipod interface, and in that kit was a grommet. but I couldn't find one for my Z...but where I installed the hole, its invisible.

How do you guys prevent the cable from not feeding back into the hole and just getting lost in there?

NO WAY.......
what are the chances. I am getting the same headunit and was wondering how I am going to mount my iphone.... i was just going to drill a hole into the upper cubby and feed the usb downward so the iphone/ipod mount will be to big to fall into the tiny usb size hole.

The cable on my unit is long enough that it doesn't fall back through. I've got a Kenwood BTW. Since it's laying horizontal, there's no real concern of it feeding back through anyway.

I have a pioneer deck also but a different one. My connector is not a USB and is fairly larger and thicker. I don't have a problem with the cable moving or escaping back down the hole.

Hole is smaller than the end of the cable that the ipod connects to....square peg round hole scenario.

also the cable is very long. I have only about 8 inches of mine outside of the hole...I'm not allowed to spend any money so I just have the PAC unit connected to the factory Blose HU.

Installed this morning...
The bluetooth worked flawless. It paired my phone in a second (iphone 3g) and downloaded contacts in about a minute..

Fits almost flush to factory with adapter kit.. 1/16" gap that i will fill (no big deal)
sound is nice.. i was cncerned with the blue display not matching.. but it looks good. def. v=clen display.

I would say that if you want to play ipod and use BT.. and aren't concerned with a touchscreen Nav.. this a good way to go. has every feature i need and nothing that i don't.
ill post pics later

gotta check with the manufacturer (pioneer)...all of my "ipod accessories" won't operate w/ the iphone...when you plug them in you get a little msg on the iphone's screen that says something to the extent of "This accessory isn't meant for the iphone, do you want to turn on airport mode"......
