Ok, so I bribed the restaraunt $20 and they took my order, I just figured out the rest of the installation, things are going a little better.

Still need to borrow a soldering gun tomorrow or wait until friday though...

Looking at my wiring now, looks like the Kenwood half of the harness has a few wires that I don't have on my Metra Nissan harness. So far it looks like the Mute, remote control, ext control, and illumi have nowhere to plug into...

Any ideas?

This just keeps getting worse, I'm starting to regret this whole idea.

Edit:
Illumination is there, but that means I have some red wire on the Kenwood half with nowhere to go... I have a ground wire on the harness, should I screw it down to something metal or leave it hanging?

I am a complete noob at this stuff... I underestimate it, are you guys professional installers or something? Seems like everyone here except me does this solo and has an easy time with it.

EDIT2:
Ok, looks like some of these will just be left hanging, since I am not doing a rear view cam and I don't have steering wheel controls etc... this is still a big PITA though...

No offense, but calm down and try to figure things out on your own. It can't be that hard and others have claimed it's not. Just take it slow and try to understand why things are there, rather than complaining online. You'll find your answers in a more gratifying way if you do it yourself, also. Good luck with your install.

Hang in there. Take a break and have a Merry Christmas. I don't think you can install a stereo properly without freaking out a least six or seven times.
Metra is giving me a different PN for my 06, 99-7602. Is that right?

That's for the bracket. The numbers I gave are for the wiring harnesses.

Actually dude, this is not my forte at all... I think people on the internet tend to make everything sound easy, I was literally pushed to the limit of patience with this thing. The install was a huge pain in the ***, I gladly would have paid to just not have to deal with it. I am fairly mechanically inclined, no problems working on my motorcycle or computer, but this was far over my head and truely frustrating.

The thing I am F___king PISSED about now is that F'ing Kenwood wants the serial number to give me access to the firmware update! I feel like nothing is just "EASY" with this thing, every part of my install had hurdles that just mounted on prior frustration. I simply cannot imagine having to pull the dash apart again for a stupid serial number. Ugh, believe me, I didn't come here to vent, I am very grateful for the help I recieved here, had I not posted here I probably would have flipped out and smashed the car apart, it was really bad. My patience is thin because I work a lot and I finally got a few days off and instead of relaxing I did this, I thought it was going to be wham bam easy, boy was I wrong. I have a lot of respect for the guys/gals here that do their own installs, I'll be the first to admit I am never doing this again, just not worth the time with my schedule and clearly I haven't done it enough to be quick with it.

Thanks for at least wishing me luck though, it came out good. The only problem now is trying to get the firmware update without an S/N...

Check the box -- they may have the S/N printed there as well.
