Dan, I am sorry I did not get a chance to read your post before I drove down to Paul's. I did ask him if all enclosures were finished and he said he had a couple left to finish and hope to get them out within about a weeks time. One of those must be yours? All i can say is after hearing my enclosure with this new head unit, i like it better than ever. He really cranked it up while testing it (full blast actually) and the sub never distorted at all. I know you have been patient. I hope that once you get it, you will forget how long you had tyo wait and will feel it was worth it. Pls let me know when you get it, I really feel for you guys that had to wait so long.

Jeff

Sorry guys, i got to hi jack this thread for 2 pics. When i was in StreetNoyz, they had 2 buggies they were working on. The first one has a LS1 vette motor twin turbo, check it out! Can you say 600hp to the wheels and think of how light it is!

I hope you are not insinuating that the phrase "no replacement...." means naturally aspirated only.... Big motors can be FI too. So there is no replacement no matter what ATI has to say.

Of course, I was told the vette motor is putting out over 600hp. The bigger the motor, the more fuel and air you feed it, the meaner it will be.

If you paint the Metra kit to match the surrounding dash, the result looks very "from the factory." IMHO Here's a pic of my headunit with the Metra kit (painted)

painted w/ airbrush. if you don't own one, go to Home Depot . . . they sell these aerosol can, spray-paint like cans, that you fill with any paint you want, that you can then spray for a non-brush stroke having finish. While you're at Home Depot, have them make you some color-matched paint (they have a computer color matcher). You need to take them something--anything--to scan for the color match. I took them the surrounding dash.

Where did u get the Metra kit from? and how much is it? I'm totally new to car audio. All I want is to change to a alpine head unit, add a sub and maybe 1 amp behind the driver seat. What kind of wires do I need? Can I just use the original wires? Should I place the amp under the driver seat? I don't want to put it in the trunk or the box behind the seat. For the sub, how does it fit behind the driver seat? Do I need a wood box? With all these unknown, maybe I should have someone do all the work for me.

He told the vendor what he did not like about some of his existing kits and they changed the kits to incorparate his ideas. You can call Paul (619) 260-1747 and buy them from him if you like. Be aware that the kits come in black and that Paul matched the color of my dash and dyed my kit to match the Z so if you order from him, I strongly suggest you get it dyed to match.

OK, first a pic of my favorite kit of the group thus i got it installed on my Z.
I just ordered the kit from Paul. He charged me $17 for the kit. He had some of the dye left over so he only charged me $10 to dye it. He said he would charge more to dye it if he had to order the dye. Hope this helps anyone who was thinking about ordering the kit.

Brandon:

Thanks for posting info about Paul/streetnoyz prices. I was affraid to post the price because I did not ask him what he wanted to sell them for on line. I did not want to post something and know if it was the right price. Now you guys know the price.

I've been thinking of doing the same thing. I doubt paint would look right if I tried to match it to the aluminum. But, I haven't decided on a headunit yet...
