Default Radio reception progressively worse since installing pioneer

EDIT: im tired and wrote "work" in the title... should read "worse" --- mods could you edit please?

I would really appreciate it if someone could shed some light on this for me.

I installed a pioneer headunit over a year ago (love it) and when I first put it in the radio was almost on par with my bose head unit but a little bit weaker of reception. Now it has gotten worse and worse to the point where I basically can only get a station to even come in with more than static like 10-15% of the time.

Anyone know what is going on? What can I do to get my radio reception back?!

to put some basic issues to rest: no I have not moved I pretty much drive around the same area and yes i have the OEM antenna installed... and yes I plugged it in when I did the install.

Thanks!

As long as you also hooked up the power antennal lead on the harness there really isn't any reason you should have that bad of reception. Tuners can fail on radios, but typically they will just go out and you will have nothing. If the problem has slowly gotten worse it's tough to say. I would plug the stock radio back in and see if it is any better. That would rule out either the car or the deck.

i know I plugged it in when I installed it... actually today somehow it was a little better, but its just much worse reception than I had with the stock deck. Is there anything I can do to boost the reception?

Did you connect the blue wire from the pioneer deck to the blue wire on the aftermarket radio harness adapter? You need to hook it up or the reception will be bad. I see a lot of people that don't do it because the 350Z doesn't have a "power antenna" but instead it has a "powered antenna" so it still needs to be hooked up.

does anyone know how you connect an aftermarket amp "turn on" wire if you are connecting the "system remote control"(blue/white) to the "power antenna"(blue/white) wire?

Am I supposed splice the amp turn on wire (which is giving a signal to my amps for them to turn on) to the ["system remote control"(wire from pioneer HU) / "power antenna"(wire from wiring harness) wire]?

I've read tons about this but nobody explains how I connect all of this when using an aftermarket amp.

Can you post the wiring diagram for your pioneer HU? What model is it?
