For those without the stock nav, you can still access the front buttons if necessary by simply removing the plastic piece just below the screen. I actually left the screws out of it, so I could access the buttons if needed. However, since the install I haven't had to access the buttons and thats been over 6 months now.
As for the Opus power supply stil powering USB devices, this is true. However, I believe you can request an option when your order your power supply so this doesn't occur. I'm too lazy to send mine back so I just deal with power going to my external DVD drive and GPS unit all the time. The car was in the shop for over a week and no problems with batter drain.

$2000 financed...wouldn't be the first time I blew that much $$.
Ah, I learned a lot from the NAVI unit that came w/ the car.
If it hadn't been for the NAVI unit, I might not have gotten the courage to take my carpc this far.
It definitely wasn't worth $2k, but it was worth something.

I can' wait untill i get my z, i am going todo so much with this whole computer idea. I hope to take this idea to a whole new level.
I currently drive and Acura rsx, and the idea of a computer install is crazy because there is no place to put it. And it wouldn't look good.. and lots of glare. ew

I can't wait to get my Z so I can do this to it!
my former car
I no longer have the blazer... yes, I took everything out before I sold it... I built that system in about may of 2000. Before that I had various other computers in my previous vehicles.... I began in 97 when I got into MP3s.
I currently have a pretty basic computer setup in my 92SE Maxima now, 8.4" touch screen... No DVD, no CDR, no wireless internet. In the Z, I plan to get a new 8.4" to flush mount in the area where the factory HU is... I think the one I'm looking at (about $480) is a fraction too large... But I should be able to figure out a way to make it fit...

Originally I wanted to take out the factory head unit and put in a screen in place of it, but it just seemed like too much trouble to create a custom plate for it to fit in the 2-din spot. Does an 8.4" screen fit in a 2-din spot without any cusom fixtures?

well, the 8.4" screen I have, has a viewable of 6.72x5.04, but the actual panel is is more like 8"x6". I think a double din is more like about 7x4. There are also 7.8" screens, but they are a little more rare.

Near completion
Well... The project is near completion.
Here are the parts I'm getting:
Travla C137 with Commel LV-670LVDS motherboard
DVD Rom Drive
3.5" 120Gb Hard Drive
Celeron 2.6Ghz
Low-Profile 1U Fan for processor
1GB Stick of ram
Opus Power Supply (I think)
Xenarc 700Ts w/ Ultrabright Upgrade (Pretty sure)
I'm gonna deal with WiFi and ODBII after I get the system in. I gotta do more research on WiFi so I can put one of those 9dB antennas in the car :-D
e-mail me if anyone has any questions :-)
