Getting an 07 in a few weeks and have decided i would like to get the 8500.
I don't want cords hanging down and i Ordered the Enthu so how would i wire the unit without cords every where.
Also Could you make the mount shorter so that it sits closer to the mirror, by looking at the pic's it looks like it could be shorter.

LOL I wish i could go out side and look but the car isn't hear yet
Any info would be great!!

Cheers

Kevin,
I only make the one size mount. But if you don't bend the suction cup bracket all the way to a 90, the mount will sit closer to the mirror. My detector almost touches the bottom of the mirror.

Kevin,
There are two was to hardwire the Escort. Escort sells a hardwire cord with a mute button and fuse. That is how I have mine wired. I ran the wire under the trim of the top of the windshield and down the drivers side into the fusebox. I have the warning light/mute button mounted low on the dash right above my knee. The other way to wire is with the Invisicord that taps into the mirror power. There are alot of threads on how to do that. Do a search.

Anyone know how easily removed the detectors are with the invisicord, and Mount? Ideally I'd like to be able to take it down, or disguise it better while it's up by the mirror. (Just so it's as discreet as possible. Or if I get pulled over I can take it off quickly, so the cop won't start making assumptions.)

Mike just sent you a PM.

Can't wait to get that mount and hard wire my passport 8500. Can't stand the cord that comes with the detector. It's always in the way when I'm shifting the car and it looks bad.

Thumbs up

I got my mount today. My passport is now mounted and it looks excellent. The quality is perfect and to top it off the turn around time from Ohio to Vegas after payment was 3 days! I did not expect it this weekend and was pleasantly surprised to find it in the mail. Great job Mike!

Takes 2 seconds, push in the little button on the X50 and it slides right off the mount. The power is just a phone cord connection and it comes right out too. I take mine off when I park on the street or take the car in for service etc.

I like the mount....but i would have mounted the remote mute differently. In my Supra I drilled 3 holes in a blank, 1 for the mute button, 2 for the indicator LED's. Then I removed the sticker from the remote and glued it to the blank to correspond with the holes and mounted the remote behind the blank so my remote looked like part of the dash. I actually had people ask me if the Supra came stock like that...they weren't very intelligent, but it was clean nonetheless. Once i get my Z in the bay, I'll see what i can come up with

i love my mount, had it for close to two years now. couple of things about it so far was even with the suction piece angled correctly, i still had big vibration issues, almost rattled my passport apart (using tape to keep it together). what i did was wrap a sinle layer of black electrical tape around the sucion base part that connects into the detector, and no more rattle. the other issue is the nice little Z emblem on the front, it is starting to come off and peel away from the mount itself. but that is for looks anyway and has no overall affect on the mount itself. excellent product. now i am going to look into that invisicord.

No problem. My mount works fine with the Rx65. It uses the same suction cup bracket as the Escort. (Escort makes the Bel detectors)

PM me for details. I have the mounts in stock.

bump for the greatest mount ever! (also, others can use this thread as a "deal thread" shortcut when they leave feedback)!

+1 i got the invisicord and mikes mount and install was 30 sec. as for wanting to remove it when a cop comes by, probably not gonna happen. unless you have black tint on your rear window, he'll see you messing with it and it might cause things to get worse. but if the cop doesnt bend down too much, he wont see it
