Default Calling all Eclipse experts

I know these questions get asked ad nauseum and I searched and did look through the topics. Just looking for a quick run down from any of you Eclipse experts. Is it a bad idea to buy one of the older ones? Any big, known problems with the older models?

I dont want/need all the fancy bells and whistles (bluetooth, traffic updates, traffic speaking, XM, steering controls). Just a DD unit with the full screen (not the smaller screen with ***** i.e. Pioneer AVIC-F700BT) that can control my music and navigation.

I think the 6600 is the most current model. I have been looking at the 5500 and 5510. What is the difference between these two? I can get the 5510 shipped for $500. Also found the AVN20D? for $400 shipped. Are these prices too much for models that are 2+ years old??????

I have the 5510, best HU I purchased so far. The 6620 will give you traffic updates, the 5510 will not. both have a Fantastic EQ. You also get 5v pre outs.

If your looking for the best Sound quality out of the head unit, Eclipse is the way to go. I had about every other brand you can think of and believe that Eclipse is the best for SQ.

If your looking to hook up your ipod you can with the 5510 but it not as fast as the Kenwood 8120. takes some time to scroll down to a song.

Your biggest problem is getting the new MAP ROM for the 5510. they are very expensive.

hey i have the Eclipse AVN 6620 head unit and I deff. like the buy. It does have the live traffic updates only if you have XM satelite or similar radio. It also keeps the stock look pretty well, at least i believe it does. Let me know if you want pictures or anything else with what it can or can't do. (haven't found a can't item yet)

6620 is the most current model I believe. The 6600 would be two models behind.
