Default aftermarket wiring harness question

has anyone found a good way to wire an aftermarket head unit to the factory connectors with some sort of adapter? i dont want to cut any wires if i dont have to. where is the best place to get them if they are out there? also, crutchfield.com had the 350z dash kit for 19.99. is this the metra kit everyone is talking about?does a place like pep boys carry this kit too?

I got mine at bestkits.com, here's a picture.

Also, are you planning on putting an amp in? Because if you are, you don't need a wiring harness. Crutchfield sells the wiring kits.

Here 's a pic of my kit: BTW, the Pioneer CD player is over 2 years old.

Scosche makes one of the available wiring harnesses for the 350Z. Their model number is NN03. Metra also makes one, model number 70-7550.

Yes, the dash kit that Crutchfield sells is the Metra 99-7402. I just bought this kit and painted it. The kit that zandomax shows seems to be a bit nicer than the Metra. The Metra, for some stupid reason, has 4 holes in the back of the pocket. I covered them over with black electrical tape.

He is right though...if you are putting in an amp for the speakers, there is no reason to have the wiring harness. I am putting in an amp, but like to have the versatility, so I put them in.

Good luck.

I just finished my head unit install last night and I used the Metra harness. I also was doing full speakers with 4-channel amp. I felt the Metra harness was necessary because I did not want to mess with the factory wiring. I also labeled all the wires so that a future owner of my car (GOD FORBID) could decode the mess in the dash. I would suggest using the harness for any occassion as it would make future changes/adaptations easier. For $15, it seems worth it.

I was looking for the same thing for an alpine deck and I found this page,Scosche plug-n-play. I did not want to have to solder and this seems to fit the bill.
