Opps...that happens man.

Starting my install tonight. At least taking apart the dash and taking it in the house to work on it and line it up good.

Default 5140 Navigation volumn

With the 5140 is there a way to increase or decrease the voice in the navigation section. When you turn the volumn down the music lowers but the nav voice stays the same. I've had a look thru the menus and have seen nothing on nav volumn

Thanks

Default Ipod interface with DNX5140

I just purchased and had this unit installed. I am using the USB cable for my 4th gen ipod. The unit appears to be reading and playing everything normally, however, there is no sound. Any ideas on how to get volume from this source?? Any help you can give would be much appreciated!

Thanks!!

Trish

The problem is that you are using a USB cable and not the IPOD adaptor for this unit. You need the Kenwood KCAIP301V Ipod adaptor.

If the CD/DVD is working, then check the IP301V audio connection wire. There are 3 jacks behind the HU. You probably connected the audio wire from IP301V to video jack on head unit.

Just as an FYI, this issue isn't limited to your Kenwood HU. My JVC KW-AVX820 does the exact same thing. DVD playback and everything else is crystal clear, but the album art from my iPhone looks very grainy and pixelated.

Ah word. Glad you're sharing my pain.

(though, all things considered, I'm there to listen to the music-- I don't care what the album art looks like)

Indeed, the album art is more of a novelty than anything. I usually just turn it off and display track info on the screen instead.

Just pick a bridge support and drive into it doing 70... save the trouble of having to rewire your stereo first.

bumping old thread... anyone knows how to hook up an 3.5mm adapter so i can play music on my non-iphone smartphone or if someone want to share a song on their phone?

Also, how do you update maps on this for free or pirating? I know you have to remove the dash, and plug in the usb cable with a flash drive in the back of othe head unit.. Anyone else done it? My map is still 2009 version.

Just plug the cable into the the Aux AV port (below the volume ****). You have to set the source to "Video", at least that is the only way I can get it to work.

As far as updating the maps, I do not know of a way you can put pirated maps on it, and I think Garmin has made it very difficult (if not impossible) to do.
