Kenwood DNX5140
I looked and didn't find anything on this unit, I think its new to the kenwood market.
So does Anyone have this unit?? I would love to hear likes and dislikes about this. It seems to have everything I'm looking for and for a fair price. I also need to know
***Can I by-pass any function that would stop the use of DVD while moving.*** That is very important to me!!
Cheers

I've had the unit in question for about a year now & am pretty happy with it.
The screen is hard to see in direct sunlight (early morning & late afternoon) & the iPod album display is badly pixelated (which I don't understand, as the DVD playback is clear).
The DVD playback can be overridden & viewed while the car is moving.
The touch screen doesn't smudge badly, something the OCD in me very much appreciates.
In all, I'd definitely buy the unit again.
Don't hesitate to ask if you have any specific questions-- I'll answer them as best I can.

Hey Thanks COW!
Let me ask you, about the Nav function? Is it accurate and does it allow you to find places of interest and all?
I'm going to be hooking up an I-pod, and your comment worries me a bit, do you have any idea why the screen goes foggy when using the i-pod function, DID you advise keenwood about this issue??
I don't think the sun will effect me to bad, my car has 10% on the sides and 20% on the back so hopefully that will help with the glare.
Also do you have any pictures of it installed, and was it hard to put in, or did you have it done?
Thanks for the response, and the help
Cheers

I've never had an issue with the navigation. It's always been completely accurate, even on country roads. Via the USB port, one can add in places of interest & what not.
The iPod issue isn't a big deal at all-- there's a tiny spot at the very top left that shows the album cover. That's what looks pixelated. It doesn't affect anything of consequence, it's just disappointing that it isn't shown clearly, especially considering the great picture the DVD player has.
The iPod adapter was something I had to buy separately for about $20. The bluetooth adapter is about $100.
I can't comment on the installation. I had it done at a store. It took the guy a good while to do it, though.
I wish I had a picture of the iPod screen to show you what I'm talking about--- it's really not a big deal. I'd take one, but my car's getting a heart transplant right now.
Anyway, the installed pictures:

You have the 5120 not the 5140 as the 5140 was released in Feb of 09. But they are virtually the same radio with some updates.

I just ordered the DNX-5140 and plan to take some pics after I got it installed and a review as well. I am looking to get the IPOD cable and XM radio for it as well. Might wait for the BT as I have a headset for now.

By the by, do you have any pictures of the tint you spoke of in direct sunlight? I'm curious to see that.

I installed my DNX-5140 on Tuesday. While the install was kind of a pain, it went pretty well. The HU looks good in there and so far I'm very happy with it. I also installed the iPod cable with it and ran that up to inside my cubby. However I think I may have knocked out the iPod video cable when putting the dash back together, as I get "No Video Signal" when trying to play videos from my iPhone. So I'm probably going to have to take the whole Dash back off to plug it back in.
