Default question about watts or subs

i have a nitro 1000w that used to power my 10in JL sub

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...483.html#specs
http://www.bizrate.com/carsubwoofers...-pid576913733/

and then my JL sub blew out and i have my cousins sub called bazooka

http://review.zdnet.com/product/car-...oofer/30786396

do i have to adjust anything on my amp to make sure nothing gets damage?

If your planning on hooking up that sub to that amp you'll definately need to retake elementary school math. 1000 watt amp hooked up to 200 watt sub = funny YouTube video except I bet your cousin won't be laughing. In all seriousness if you HAD to have your slap hooked up and want to be super teenager with a Bazooka tube just crank the amp down to about 15% of it's power

rewording

how do i crank the amp down to about 15% of its power?

and my first question, if i were to switch out the 10in JL into the bazooka by just switching the 2 wires what would i have to do to the amp to make sure nothing goes wrong?

Well that sucks. I do not have a wiring schematic of the amplifier, bit suspect this is a input attenuater.

The shop tossed it in the trash?

Boost dosnt cut power of the amp down at all, it boosts the input ever so slightly and just causes distortion.

gain on the amp only changes the output voltage, it will still run at its rms but the voltage will drop.. its not a volume **** by any means. every gain on every amp im running is set at 0.... the trick is to match the input voltage of the amplifier........ 0 gain equals cooler operating temp. and less distortion

most amps have a little screw type adjuster to control the output power of the amp just look on the amp and use a little screw driver to adjust it

Gain... maybe....

like i said, the amp will still push the wattage

mine is on its lowest gain setting and still pushing its rated power

That Nitro amp is a 4-channel amp. The most you will get out of 1 bridged channel is 150 watts into 4-ohms. The 4-ohm Bazooka tube is looking for 100 rms watts. You are good to go with a little overhead.
