Components or 2 ways?
Since component speaker are typically more expensive, am I going to get better sound quality compared to comparable 2-ways? 2 ways are going to be easier to install, since there is no cutting involved for tweeter mounting.
For example: Would a pair of Kappa components sound better than 2 ways in the front doors of the Z?
I suppose that the question is a matter of opinion, but I'd like to hear them.

My JL Audio XR tweeters did not require any cutting to install (I had to do a hack-and-slash job with electrical tape on the stock mount, but they're not going anywhere). I don't belive that a set components compared to equal quality, same brand coaxials will sound much better. I'd venture to say the components would be slightly better than the coaxials due to more surface area on the components (no tweeter on the pole in the center) but placement is a little trickier, and the install is a bit harder to do.
IMO components are better for 2 reasons
1- The ability to control the location of the tweeter allows infinite flexability in the way your soundstage is setup. With a 2-way you are stuck with the factory locations to create your listening environment. they build the car first, then find extra room for speakers so we always lose out in the SQ arena.
2- The crossover network that comes with a component set is significantly better. With most 2-ways's, the woofer is not protected with any filter (ie you need either an amp with a HP filter or an enternal processor like a Audio Control) and the tweeter is simply crossover with a single capacitor. On a component set you will have filters for both woofer and tweeter as well as protection schemees for your tweeters so they don't melt down.
Components area pain the the a$$ since you have to hide the Xover module and do a lil extra work to mount the tweeter but it is well worth it. A simple soultion is to buy kick panels from Q Logic (product name is Q Forms) http://www.qlogic.ws/2003/home/ don't think they have'em yet for the Z yet but they will soon.
