Default lower volume from avic z3 after factory bose integration

I recently installed an Avic z3 into a 2006 and integrated it with the factory bose setup. Problem is now the volume wont really go very high and you cant hear anything with the windows down at speed. I used the green peripheral line converter box ( I've seen it used on here before ) and turned all the output pots all the way up but its still not very loud. Does anyone know a fix for this like a gain control on the bose amps? I know I should be tearing everything out and installing some good stuff to go with the z3 but I hate having my car torn apart for a week and not being able to drive it. The full audio install is going to be a winter garage project but for now I just wanted the z3 in the dash. Anyone got any ideas?

every z we have done where i work has had same problem, including mine. The bose amp seems to limit the power and only output the power it wants. Upgrade the speakers and use a standard wiring harness and wire to speakers and should sound great

yup, normal. Same w/ mine. Gotta jack it up to like 50-75% to get the volume to normal for me.

Thanks for the replies guys, it will save me yanking the dash apart or messing with the stock amps for a solution since there is none. I guess even ok sound will have to wait until this winter when I do a full system. Thanks again
