Sub and Amp Move - Will It Work?
Greetings, I just purchased an 2005 35th Anniversary Edition and I agree, the Bose system is crap! I have an Alpine MRV-F450 5 Channel Amplifier (4 – 50 W Channels, 1 – 200 W Channel) and a JL 10” 500 W Subwoofer (10W3v3-4) in my 1997 Firebird Formula that I am selling. I can't get a decent price for the Firebird so I might as well take these out of it and relocate them to my Z. What do you think? Then I need a new HU and speakers. Some folks say don't bother with rear speakers but I don't understand why not. Also, would like some suggestions on HU and speakers for a budget of around $500 Want a HU that has a built in ipod connection. Also, should I have the JL sub installed where the Bose sub is or get a zen enclosure? If I get a zen, which is better? The corner or under the strut placement. Any ideas on a good location for the Alpine amp? Thanks!

I opted for the Zenclosure under-strut box.
For the headunit, look at some of the double-din Pioneer units. I personally like the Kenwood units.
You already have both amps, so that's a good start.
I replaced all my speakers, just because I didn't want any of the BOSE crap left, no matter how insignificant the change. I picked up two MB Quart component sets. Installed the front with a 1" Zenclosure speaker spacer and the tweeter is in the stock location (had to be drilled out).
For the rear, I just used the midbass after sealing the speaker areas with eDead V1. Good time to mention, I laid down eDead V1 in the entire trunk area, along with the middle part containing the speakers and cubbies.
After all this, it's just tuning the sound and setting the crossovers.

i was reading about ppl who replaced the rears with very expensive infiniti's, etc...i figure why bother, i threw some sony's back there(cheap) not much of a difference but i bet im gettin the same play as those who put some infiniti's haha!!btw if theres a difference at all, it looks way better lol...but then again you can barely see them, so IMO it was pointless<<<
