Default Wiring amp to sub question

Ok I have question..

I have a spare MTX Thunder 302 amp http://www.realmofexcursion.com/ampg...X_Thunder_302/ and also an ol'school JL 12w6 http://mobile.jlaudio.com/pdfs/8-12W6_BDS.pdf in a sealed box.

So if I was to bridge the amp into a final load of 4ohms @ 300watts, how do I wire the 12w6 sub (which is a DVC 6ohm sub) so it can push out the most power without harming amp or sub? What's the most logical wiring of both amp and sub? Thanks in advance!

+1

Unless the amp is 2 ohm stable in mono, you should to run it at 6 ohms which means simply running +/- from one voice coil straight to the amp.

Alternatively, you could wire the coils in parallel and show the amp 3 ohms and this should be ok as long as you don't overdrive the rail voltage into clipping. Parallel is + to + and - to - then +/- out to the amp.

Dual 6 ohm sub = 3 ohm or 12 ohm configuration. Shoot for 3 ohms, your amp should handle that.

Wire + to + on the sub and connect to + on the amp.
Wire - to - on the sub and connect to - on the amp.

Done.

Now, remember to post in the audio forum in the future rather than OT.

So as long as the ohms on the amp is higher than on the sub.. the amp won't overheat and die out on me? OR is it the other way around?

Never heard of Ohm. Is he in the forced-induction forum?
