Default DVD/CD/MP3 Help!

I need to know of a DVD/CD/MP3 unit that can be installed with minimal if not, no-butchering of the Dash. Getting the stock unit is a possibility. I would appreciate it if you could give me an estimated or actual list price. I will be getting a Track in Dec. Since, I'm in Panama, R.P. they do not come stock. Thanks!

raZing.

there are no STOCK dvd/cd/mp3 unit for the Z. you would need to by a aftermarket single din or double for that. you would also need a dash kit to hold it and make it look semi stock. do a search theres tons of info on headunits and the metra kit.

Hey man, check out this link... hopefully it works for you

http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...&avf=Y&search=

if not, just go to crutchfield, select the 2003 Nissan 350Z w/o Nav, w/o Bose and it will show you all the options you can get for the DVD, CD, CD-RW, MP3 etc...

I think cruchfield is an industry leader... so their info should be reliable.

Alpine's IVA-D900 Mobile Multimedia Station is The Godfather of mobile video receivers: an absolute masterpiece! Its 7" low-temperature poly-silicone LCD video monitor provides 400% more pixels than conventional LCD screens. The picture is brighter and more detailed, with higher contrast, more dramatic colors, and a wider viewing angle.

And then there's expandability. Not only does this receiver have a host of inputs for Alpine components (such as a DVD changer, navigation system, or XM Radio tuner), it also has three A/V inputs and two A/V outputs. Just add a couple of rear-seat monitors to open up the entertainment possibilities. Multi-zone audio-video control allows independent source selection for each monitor. Imagine it — one child watching a DVD, another playing a video game, while you listen to XM Radio up front!

The IVA-D900 plays your CDs, CD-Rs, and CD-RWs (even discs loaded with MP3 files), and its MaxTune SQ tuner delivers first-rate AM/FM reception. Whatever your listening preferences, the powerful built-in amplifier reproduces your music with precision and authority. If you're into serious fine-tuning, Bass Engine® Plus offers equalization, time correction, and crossover capabilities, while MediaXpander brings out all the dynamics of your music and movie soundtracks.

Once the unit has been installed, easy-to-follow on-screen menus provide instructions for system setup and control. Quick Search allows you to select a menu, then use the rotary **** to scroll through its list of options — a real bonus if you're looking for a particular MP3 song or XM Radio channel. A full-function wireless remote is included for your convenience.

My question becomes... is it possible to remove the screen from the unit, put it where the NAV would be, put the unit where the original stereo head unit goes, and still have it work properly? I guess it would take some electrical work and extension of the wires??? Is that even possible, or would you be ruining it?

Here is a fun page to look at. It shows the system installed in a 2003 350Z........it might point you in the right direction anyhow.....

Just click "Demo Vehicles", then choose the Z

I have the Alpine IVA-D900 and I love it! I don't know how you would take the monitor apart and put it where the original screen would be. Not sure how it would work or if it would even work. If that is the case, why don't you just get the unit and screen separately?

Get the DVA5205 to play DVD's and what not. Get a separate unit that will be the tuner and just get a monitor. Or what you can do is just the the dva5205 for dvd's, the cva1006 for the unit that can be used as a tuner, mp3, nav, etc and just not open the monitor. Then get a separate monitor to put where the stock one would be. Does that make sense? hah.

not sure that is making sense to me, but it's early in the morning...

The nice thing about the IVA-D900 is the clarity of the picture. I'd like to get that screen, but I want it where there original NAV screen would be... I like to keep the care looking "stock clean," if you know what I mean.

I guess here's another question, if you got the NAV system, would it be possible to simply replace the unit with a DVD player and keep the stock NAV display? Or is that stock display too crappy?

I don't get the last statement. If you get the Nav unit, why would you replace it with the dvd player? The nav unit is separate from the iva-d900.

well... because the stock NAV screen fits perfectly where it is meant to be. But the NAV system doesn't play DVDs... If someone got the NAV system, I'm wondering if they could keep the stock screen, but replace the actual navigation dvd module with a regual dvd player and have the NAV screen play DVDs...

does that make sense now? obviously someone wouldn't get the IVA-D900... just a DVD head unit.

Oh... I think I get it. I'm not sure if it's possible. I'm sure if you pay someone enough, they could probably come up with a way to do it. However, that seems like a lot of trouble to go through.

The stock screen is nice and bright (much brighter than the xenarc VGA screens), and is worth keeping if you can.
It uses RGBS component video, so as long as your source outputs RGBS you will be OK.
An RGsB source (RGB, with Sync on the Green wire) would work too.
Just fork/"Y" the green signal and send one output to Green, and the other to Sync.
You might get some ghosting/artifacts/loss if you do it this way, but it's only 7" so it should still look just fine.

You will, of course, need to rig the wiring a bit to tap in to the screen's wires.

Y'all might also want to look in to adding a touch overlay to the screen.
This is beyond my realm of concern, but I know it is possible for less than a few hundred dollars.
