Avh-p4100dvd vs avh-p600dvd
I'm thinking of getting a dvd receiver and I am down to these two models. The P6000 has 6 dvd/cd change but the ipod control is not built in, no HD radio, and no ASR, whatever that means. The cheaper 4100 on the other hand, has built in ipod control, hd and sat radio, and asr, again whatever that is. So is an extra 500 to 600 dollars worth it to get the 6000? Why would anyone want the 6 over the 4?
Also, since the 6 does not have hd radio, does that mean i can't listen to radio at all?
Lastly, how much do you think it would cost for me to have someone install this in my z?

I went with the 4100 in mine, choosing the ipod control over the 6-disc changer. For me, being able to plug in my iphone pretty much makes having the 6-disc feature useless. Nowadays, the only time I put a disc in is if it's a video disc, or I just bought a new cd and haven't imported it on the ipod yet.
ASR is just a "sound enhancer" for compressed music. I use it on and off, but it's not a big deal. And you'll still have radio, just not HD-radio (it needs an add-on component for this feature).

I was just about to post this same EXACT thread.
I need similar advice.
They are pretty much the same price. The avh-p6000 JUST went down to $500 shipped on crutchfield! (I look at the page on crutchfield everyday) lol
The 6-CD In-dash is very attractive.
Ok, I'm desperate to make a choice this week.
dkny_boi, I also have an iPhone, and for the first time plan on utilizing it.
Does it play videos off of your iphone too? If that's the case I suppose I'll go with the 4100. It's a few years newer as well. Are there any other reasons you'd recommend this HU to an iphone user?
I was committed to the 6000 and would've ordered it had I not stumbled onto the 4100 a few days ago. But I'm dieing for music so I'm deciding this week. I need some input to help me decide!

Neither of these units have built-in Ipod control, both are compatible with a cable you can buy seperate and plug in the back of unit for ipod/iphone.

HD radio is different than regular radio, yes you can listen to regular radio.
The 6000 seems to be an older model, however it has a 6 disc internal changer...that is why it cost more.
These 2 models are almost identical, except for their different button layout and different user interface.
The 4100 seems newer, and looks alot more sleek than the 6000, but the 6000 has a 6 disc...so they are charging alittle extra for that, even though its an older unit. Other than that, these are about the same exact thing and will have almost identical features accross the board.
One small advantage of the 4100 is it has a single USB connection on the back as well. I have the 4100 and have the USB cable run to the cubby and have a 16GB Flash drive connected. You could also connect and portable HDD to is as well. In either case the music is controlled by the unit and works great. I preferred this to the changer.
To be more specific on the ipod control of the 4100:
1) right out of the box, it WILL control music playback from your ipod/iphone by plugging the usb cable that came with your ipod/iphone into the unit. ipod control, charging, and music playback only... no video
2) for video playback from ipod/iphone, then you'll need pioneer's CD-IU200V cable. this is because this cable also plugs into the a/v mini-plug in the back of the deck for video playback
I've tried playing video from my iphone without the optional pioneer cable and could get only sound, no video. I've got my deck set up like gflack. I can plug in either a flash drive or the ipod cable into it, and having my iphone plugged in gives me more music than a changer would (granted, I never really burn mp3 discs, just discs I recently bought go in it). I don't think there's any other iphone-specific reason I'd recommend this deck for. It works great, shows all of my playlists/albums/etc just like on the iphone, album art as well.
*edit*
Another thing I forgot to mention about the 4100 is that it being a newer model, it also supports divx and aac files. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the 6000 does.

Will the CD-IU200V cable work for the AVIC-D3 as well, or does it use a USB cable instead of the pin-port that the AVIC-D3 has?
^ My AVIC-D3 will have sound for video, like yours, but no video.... I have been looking for a solution to this recently, but i have yet to really search hard for it.
Any help is appreciated!

You are correct, the 6000 does NOT play Divx.
