Default sub placement?

just picked up a kenwood ddx6019, and will soon be adding the rest of a system. i would like to keep it as hidden and clean as possible.
any suggestions on a sub type/enclosure(powered preferably) to fit in the stock bose location? i dont have bose, but i like the behind the seat location.
i saw the kenwood powered unit is an option. any thoughts on that?

putting it behind the seat is the worst place to put it. You need to put the sub in a real enclosure. The best place IMO is under the strut bar. oh and you're going to want to pick up some dynamat to put around the speakers in the door and the sub wherever you decide to put it

I placed a 10" Kicker in the stock location but fabbed a fiberglass enclosure using polyester fabric and resin, speaker ring and framing. Dynamatted the body around the enclosure and sprayed the enclosure with rubber toughguard material and filled with padding and am very happy with the result.

It is PLENTY of kick in a good location and most importantly to me looks clean. I have a 1000 watt JL amp powering 4 x 6" JL Speakers and two JL tweeters all in stock locations with dynamat and speaker rings.

I can't find it right now, but someone makes a pre-made fiberglass box that fits in the stock location that a shallow mount JL sub fits into. Should get done what you are looking for.

^^^^^ I believe you might be referring to Wicked C.A.S.?

The enclosure alone -

The preloaded enclosure -

The OP clearly wants to put the sub in the GLOVEBOX! he doesn't want a "gaudy" box in the hatch.

But thanks for playing.

I'm not the most knowledgable when it comes to audio systems, especially along the lines of soundstaging. I'm wanting to put a sub in front of the strut bar in that corner, possibly one on each side. This is to preserve trunk space. How much different would it sound if the subs were facing backwards from under the strut bar, and which would be better?

This is what i know, you can not put two subs/speackers facing each other. Why? because the sound waves are going to crash with one another and that does not give you the best sound.

I hope this helps.

If you set a sub under the strut bar, the sound will travel to the back of the car (the trunk) and up to the front of the car where you will hear a better more clear sound.

Good luck with everything.

Thanks for the reply. Any suggestions as to how to have 2 subs in front of the strut? Maybe put them both in the center facing up and outward?
