audio problems
I have an 2004 350Z Touring with the Bose audio system.. 6 cd/tape/radio and I am having an interesing issue. all is fine when playing tapes or the radio but lately, when playing cd's one channel is muffled.. I bought a cd lens cleaner and will try to see if that corrects the problem . Has any other owner with the same system had a similar problem? If so, what did you do to fix it?
Any help will be greatly appreciated..

The Bose H/U and CES in the 2004 350Z is a POJ (Piece of Junk).
Your problem description tells you it’s time to replace the H/U.
Unfortunately with the Bose “upgrade,” that isn’t simple. If you replace the H/U with a decent non-Bose unit, you will need to either replace all the rest of your CES (amps, SubW, and speakers), or add a PAC mod (which only makes the existing Bose stuff sound halfway decent).
The correct fix is to replace everything (and I’m sure that isn’t advice you want to hear or do).
If you buy a Z, avoid one with the Bose “upgrade.” It’s more expensive when buying this, and it costs more to get rid of this junk. You are better off getting a Z with the cheap Clarion CES since replacing this is easy.

From what I've read and seen, is that a lot of people have problems with the stock Bose system... And your problem seems to be the main one... I'm not too sure what causes it but, try searching Bose system on the forum and it should pull up threads on this problem... I don't have the Bose system but from a lot of people are saying, I think it's crap, plus when I got my car I was immediately gonna put in new audio equipment... But GL with the search, I hope you find your answers, or maybe someone else can chime in on this...
Thank you all for replying to my question about the Bose audio problems.
Sad thing about these systems is. once one part goes, it is better to replace the entire system. My son did that with the bose system in his 91 Z32.. Although he didn't have a head unit when he bought the car. Since I am sort of old school with my music (I have tons of the stuff) I had thought about replacing the bose with another double din 3 in 1 system.. radio/cd/cassette. There are two brands that are available and I might go that route.. Alas, it would be great to keep the car stock but, a Z owner has to do what he/she must lol
I will check the bose system forum in here if there is one and then decide..
Have a great day to all of you..

The best thing to do would be to replace everything ... and the most expensive thing. By the time you replace the headend, speakers, and labor you can be talking $800 to a whole lot more.
Since lots of people pull their headends out nearly brand-new you might be able to find a gently used one and have it installed for $30-$50 or do it yourself. Remember to match non-Bose to non-Bose and Bose to Bose.
