Which is better, TFT or STN?
I've seen several screens with either of these lettering in their descriptions. First of all, what does TFT and STN stand for? Which one is better quality and best for DVDs? That's all I want the screen for is DVDs and maybe later down the road I'll get a TV tuner. So can anyone help me out?
With a question like that its better to ask jeeves.
TFT is Thin Film Transistor
STN is Super Twist Nematic
TFT has better color and refresh than STN. STN will give you 'ghosting' which is like seeing past images cause it doesn't refresh the screen quick enough. STN cost way less and consume less power, but quality isn't as good as TFT.
For DVD, I would suggest you get a TFT screen. You don't want to see freeze frames during a movie.
