Default HELP-What LCD or TFT screen fits 06'cubby?

Hey Guys,

I'm in the process of getting a screen in my 06' cubby hole but I'm not quite sure what screen fits. The audio/video place says 5.8" alpine but I think it can fit a 6.5" or 7" screen.

Also, I'm on a budget. I just want to get a 6.5" or 7" lcd or tft screen with 1 or 2 av ports for around $150, is that possible?

The car audio place I went to will fit the screen for me but I'm a bit sketchy since they're not even sure what sizes fit save the 5.8" screen. I'm almost doomed and trapped cause I live in small Panama City and there's not a lot of places out here that do custom stuff. So everyone who does custom work charges an arm and leg for medicore work.

Someone, anyone please help?

Alright, I'm not a genius in electronics in the Z but I'm pretty sure you can't put a screen in the 06 cubby. If I remember correctly, one guy modified his 06 cubby to work but it took a lot of customizing. You would have to purchase an 03 cubby and then proceed with your installation of a screen. You can fit 7" screens in the 03 cubby. Farenheit is a popular choice in 7" screens in the cubby.

also you could use a liliput 7" or xenarc 7" in the 03 cubby.

i went with the 7" farenheit but wish i wouldve got a touchscreen instead. now i need a touchscreen so i can make my carpc come to life. i'll sell you my 7" if you want it, works perfectly and is 100% same as the day i installed it.

Default 06 Motorized Nav Cubby

If you replace your cubby for the Motorized one, you can use the Farangehit 7'' LCD screen.

I saw it a local shop installed and it look good

This post show an install, however the one i saw didn;t have the gap, it must be a installation issue.

i did mine the thrifty way in my '06 by cutting the back of the cubby and placing the 7" screen on their. i didn't want to spend an insane amount of time and/or money fitting in a motorized unit that i heard doesn't fit anyway or have a shop rip me off. it's a farenheit by the way, and i am very happy with it, veiwing angle is good enough for me, and can't beat the price.

Default Come on!

Come on, a $25K+ car with a home made cut windows for LCD??

It doesn't make much sence to me. However I have to agree that It doens;t look that bad however that door it is on the way.

I will post back once I confirm all the information on the motorized door.

the door is not in the way at all, i'm 6' tall and have no problem seeing the screen when it comes to the lid.
Pros: cheap, easy, shields alot of light during daytime, a little more concealed form popo
Cons: can't see a sliver of the side because of the recessed nature of the install

Oh, and the home made and not making sense comment: i see nothing wrong with doing stuff on your own, i think it looks like it belongs. when the screen is off, it looks like a stock cubby. if i bought everything from a store or had it fabricated, i'd have no money for anything else. with the money i saved from not buying a new motorized unit, i bought some springs and a CAI.

Honestly I don't feel like spending 300+ on a door that won't fit/work without other parts needed. You'll have to buy the chip to have it open and close, and don't forget the NAV Finisher, which I think, doesn't completely fill the gap either.

I had the same idea in mind of what Treez did. Customizing/modding the 06 Cubby is the best alternative for now. It works, and if it's done right it will be clean. And being flesh and clean is good enough for me.

IMHO 300$ Could be well spent elsewhere.
