Since installing my system a while back, under heavy bass the passenger rear speaker has rattled badly. Just tonight I got around to looking at it. When the speaker hits hard, it touches against the plastic speaker cover and makes a terrible rattling noise that destroys the quality of the sound. Is there any way to fix this? Can I remove the speaker cover any way?

PS- I have some fatmat between the speaker and the speaker mount so it's mounting height is a little bit more than without the fatmat. Removing the fatmat might work as it would lower the mounting height, but I don't want to lose the vibration dampening qualities it gives...

OK- the fatmat between the metal speaker hole and the speaker is gone, but the rattle is STILL there!!! It is so annoying and seems to be getting worse. I know it is because the speaker surround hits the grill on full excursion during heavy bass... is there any way to remove the grill? Would I have to cut? Would it look like crap? Any other ideas? I'm tired of rattles... thanks.

check your gain settings on your 4 channel amp. make sure they are equal and you don't have one cranked and also try bumping the crossover up a little bit and cut some of those lower frequencies out of that speaker. these would be the first couple of things i'd try/check at my shop. hope this works.
