The cheapest way to "make it sound better."

That is quite the way to put it...

Just a suggestion. Put a subject in the subject line like

Squeaking brakes

instead of

Need help immediately

or

Budget a good amount. There is no "cheap" way to get good quality sound.

Hi and Welcome,

I purchased my first 350 Z in 2003, and I was very disappointed in the stock CES. It’s obvious that Nissan meant to only provide a very inexpensive sound system because “any new car must to come with a radio.” That actually should not be surprising since many buyers are more interested in tracking their Z and hearing its engine and exhaust rather than listening to a high-end A/V CES.

The stock Clarion system is awful, and the Bose “upgrade” isn’t much better. Both of these beg for replacement if you are interested in good sound.

If you plan to do the upgrade in stages, you’re in luck if you have the OEM Clarion CES. That’s not the case with the Bose OEM since it’s difficult to add components to this system.

So before wasting a lot of time describing different upgrade paths, please tell us what OEM system is in your car (Clarion or Bose)?

I’ll try to help if you can provide this information.

Questions:
1. Your budget is?
2. Do you want to add a sub?
3. Are you doing the install?
