pioneer hu
can anyone tell me the difference between the regular pioneer hu's and the premier ones? i have a pionneer DEH-P850MP premier hu and i dont kno the difference between the two types of hu. any help??

Cosmetics basically. The only one I know anything about is the 940mp (Premier) vs the 9400mp (Pioneer) and the only difference is the color and supposedly the voltage of the RCAs. I read somewhere (can't remember where) that the preout voltage of both the 940mp and 9400mp are identical (6v) but I don't know for sure.

I heard from a well-respected audio dealer that the cd transport system in the Premier units is much better than the standard pioneer HU's...that probably means something. I do know that my Premier 840mp HU has high voltage RCA outs (4V), where the standard HU is like 2 volts...thsi makes a big difference when your amps are far away from your HU.

Warantee is better, transports are better, voltage out is higher, has more memory for visualizations, you can put your own movies into it, etc. etc. etc.
There is quite a bit of difference that is not immediately noticable.
