Default JL sub hits differently on cd and radio, advice?

Hey guys. i recently had a local audio shop install a subwoofer in my girls 06 g35 coupe w/ a bose head unit. Its a jl 10w3v3 sub and a kenwood 8104, class d amp. Both are rated at 300w rms. I'm using a single 10" z enclosure box. I have noticed that the bass hits the way it should when listening to a cd. It hits the way a sub running that much power should hit. But meanwhile when listening to the radio, the base hits slightly harder than the stock bose sub did. I have a single 10" in my Z and i know the bass hits differently from song to song and from radio to a cd, but this is a drastic difference. Does anyone know why this is or have any experience with this problem?
Thanks in advance...

^ True. And the bass from my radio compared to a cd is not as crisp and not as pronounced. But the amount of bass is drastically different in my girls G35. It just seems not right. I was trying to see if maybe someone else has experienced this or has some knowledge on this...

I think what you're hearing is "normal." You'll also hear a difference from radio station to radio station. The hip-hop and top-40 stations seem to re-EQ their music to be more bass-heavy, while the rock and easy listening stations are much closer to the CD response (and it's not just because hip-hop and top-40 is bass-ier - I've heard the same song on 3 of those stations and the bass response is totally different on each). I have 5 different EQ profiles I set up on my HU to accommodate these differences.

I think part of the has to do with modern compression techniques totally killing dynamics these days, and the fact that radio stations are applying processing, too.

^ I guess you're right. I know that all the EQs of each radio station are different, but the gap in the amount of bass just seems so big between the radio and cd that i thought something might have been done wrong during the install. And i was comparing it to my Z where that same difference is bass is not as wide. So i was just curious as to what the difference was, thats all.
