Default I got a quote and wonder if it's worth it?

I went to a local car audio shop. I want to keep the factory radio but replace/add.

They would do;

Kicker DS 6.5" front & rear speakers (They said it will sound much better then factoey as far as louder and good bass and the factory radio will power them no problem since there really efficient. This true?)

Power Acoustik Amp 300 watt rms located where i want. 10" free air Kicker comp subwoofer 200 watt rms in the factory location where the bose subwoofer would be. They will seal it carpet it. (They said will sound really good. This true?)

Amp kit, line out converter

Parts & Installed for $650

Is this worth it?, price good?,better option?

Thanks!

The price for everything with labor is pretty good but i would hold off on the rear speakers and put components in the front not sure if that model is or not. Hold off on the free air sub in the stock location it will sound like a**. People dont do free air anymore unless its gonna be an infinite baffle. Power acoustik amp is low end. The factory radio in noooo way has enough power to supply any speaker with enough power. It would make more sense to get a 4ch amp run the front components and your rear sub case closed

Mb quartz 4ch amp $189 ill get the part #
Pg rsd components $80
Image dynamics Idq10v2 $159
zenclosure 1 10 $100
amp install kit $80

prices might vary but this setup will sound 10x better. Hes selling you low end entry level stuff. What i suggested offers bang for the buck and will last you

I think i decided to do the following instead since on a budget.

-Leave factory radio
-Leave factory speakers/tweeters (replace 1 rear blown speaker)

Add the z enclosure under strut bar version w/ (2) 10" subs.
A 2-channel amp to power subs
Amp kit, LOC, Install cost, antenna booster.

Tune the factory speakers to have only little bass so can turn it up louder without distortion and let subs do the bass.

This way don't need to change my radio, add a 4-channel amp, door speakers, cost of putting door speakers in, 4-channel amp, radio, etc.

I should be able to keep cost down to less then $500 installed. Because if i go the other way it will probably be around $1200-1400 installed.

What kind of 10" subs would you put in this sealed box. There .7 cubic ft. per chamber. And what kind of amp. Try to keep subs under $100 and amp under $150.

Thanks

^^ I've torn my interior out more times than I can count. The hump that covers the rear speakers is the most difficult to pull off, but wearing gloves so you don't pinch your fingers helps a ton.

Anyway, no matter what you do the factory h/u is gonna hold back your system imo.

No..this is not true..

If they are actually building you a box inside the where stock bose would be it would be alright..

All in all I would stay away from this shop. And if you are firm with staying with the stock radio (would I strongly am against, because it's just a better/cheaper route for the most part) than I'd pick up an oem audio interface unit such as a cleansweep or something along the lines.

As someone else said above, don't worry about rear speakers.

i feel like im going around in circles with your multiple posts, but ill give it one more shot...if you willing to spend 650, heres what you do -
1. free- do the install yourself, its not rocket science. this way, you can put your money into better parts instead of someones pocket
2. $200 get a 3 or 4 channel amp with speaker level inputs (mtx/kicker make decent amps with speaker level inputs, look on ebay for a remanufactured one)
3. $100 mid level new/or high end remanufactured component set for the front only (YOU DONT NEED OR WANT REAR SPEAKERS)
4. $150 Understrut box (if you are patient you can find one used cheap - i just got one locally for 50$/or if you are handy you can build one much cheaper)
5. $150 you get get a mid/higher end single or 2 cheaper 10"s (even cheaper if your not picky on brand and search around craigs list
6. $50 left over for amp install kit/speaker wire/beer

for 650 you have a decent entry level system that will bump nicely and sound ok. you will be set up perfectly for when you save enough pennys or have a birthday /christmas coming up you can get a proper head unit
